Default Thoughts on this Spyder I'm considering....

Hey guys,

What do you guys think of the following Spyder....

My one gripe is not full leather....but it is a manual which I am looking to switch to, it's a 2011, and the dealer is willing to discount pretty nicely.

White with Black wheels is a great look on the Spyder.

I will offer my biased opinion. If I were looking for a replacement Spyder I would want the Spyder Wheels, Sport Buckets and MT. I know you use your Spyder as a DD so I can definitely understand the preference for the Sports Seats.

The color isn't as much of an issue, I have yet to see a Spyder that doesn't look fantastic in person in any color.

I wouldn't let the lack of full leather bother me, but then I am not a fan of leather. The white seat backs are a very nice touch; I am surprised more weren't ordered this way, as they tie in nicely with the standard white interior trim. But they are not sport buckets, and it does not have the Spyder wheels.

I too like the painted seat backs.
I too would prefer the spyder wheels.
On a side note, what porsche charges for wheel painting is highway robbery.
If the dealer is willing to work with you, go for it.
I miss rowing my own too.

Sorry to be negative but that car has too many options ( and wrong ones on top of it ). The seats are a deal breaker for me.

OOOOOOO I like! Is it possible to purchase a leather dash? I think Suncoast has the dash and radio trim pieces, but I don't think there's anyway to fix the door trim unless you buy a completely new door panel.

No, no, no. It's discounted because nobody wants a spyder optioned with sport heated seats. The non spyder wheels are a deal breaker too. Just IMO...

I'm basically trying to determine, if the offer is good enough, whether it's worth trading in my car with 25k miles and an accident, for something new, that could be a better value when trading in later on...basically if I could trade one for the other. Obviously I like my color combo way better, but just thinking for more of a short term solution

If you like the options, go for it.

Personally, I prefer full leather only in a coupe. In a convertible, the non-leather plastic stuff seems like it will handle the weather and sun exposure better. Plus, leather adds weight.

As others have mentioned, the two big drawbacks for many are the wheels (the Spyder wheels are lighter) and the seats (sport buckets are lighter, more supportive, and can be easily sold if desired). Sport buckets will cost around $6k to add later if desired! Also, the sport seats should be a no-cost option, not sure why they are listed at $2385.

Then of course there is all the extra $$ spent on painting seatbacks, roll bar and wheels. Those options will be worth almost nothing at resale.

Not one for me, but I already have mine!

No offense, but sounds like mental masturbation to me. You are going to take a hit on your current car for the accident whether you sell it today, or 10 years from now. Factor in taxes on the new car (if your state charges that), plus the seller making a profit off the trade in and the new purchase and it's a losing proposition no matter how you slice it.

Good luck with your decision.

If you look at that seller I posted, they have a lot of leather pieces. I think the doors have to be bought from as a whole panel though. Although, i don't really see the appeal of full leather in a convertible. That is me though.
