I like the look of the lower side decal, kind of vintage 914.

+1. I've seen pictures of spyders with the side decal removed and they don't look nearly as good. The 'special' look is lost and it starts to look more plain boxster'ish'. The women seem to hate it though. My wife and my good buddy's wife don't like the side decals. I certainly didn't buy the car for the women, though. I vote to leave it on. I love the side decals.

you know, most people just accept the Porsche Man cliche and automatically think you're a *****.

I laugh about it cuz I know many Porsche owners. But this decal kinda screams. It certainly helps the Spyder stand out, especially in Blk.

maybe leave it on... just so people think I'm a *****...

I believe the car can be ordered without it, which is what I would do. But then, I'm a more low-key kind of guy who doesn't like any such embellishments on a car.

It seems that I'm in the minority on this one. People who buy Boxster Spyders seem to like the look and, perhaps, the attention it garners.

I haven't seen a black one without the decals but here is one of our felllow listers with a white one and no decals: https://rennlist.com/forums/987-foru...my-spyder.html

I like the decals, it helps break up the side of the car and differentiates it from other Boxsters.

It should be easy enough to remove if you don't like it.

I'm big into originality with a car. So if I got a Spyder with decals I'd leave them on the car.

That being said, I am not really a fan of the decals and if spec'ing a car I'd choose the delete option for the decals and the rear badging. I think the rear badge should just have said "Spyder." I've seen some Renlisters have removed the Boxster part of the rear badging and re-centered the Spyder badge. Although, on a black car the rear badging is a little more subtle since its black on black.

I took mine off and replaced it with something more subtle.
I will try to post a picture when I have a chance.

I like the decals. I don't think it is loud. Peridot Green is loud. Chrome wheels are loud. A Ed Hardy T-shirt is loud. The decals are retro cool. If the car didn't have other retro elements, ie manual tarp, aero humps, then it would be un-cool. Kinda like wearing a Ed Hardy Tshirt with a classic Harrington Jacket.

GT3 RS decal screams louder than Spyder's. And I think is rice.

And I don't think a car makes a man to be a *****. A man who is a *****, driving a non threatening navy Volvo Cross Country wagon can still be a *****.

yes, not sure I would buy an RS for any reason with those silly decals. Looks like they were designed by a laid-off Pontiac CAD-CAM guy

An Ed Hardy T-shirt with a classic Harrington? Talk about imagery...

Finally, you missed my humor, I guess... sorry, i drive a Posche

+1

The decals on the RS look like something I'd expect to find on a Hotwheels car.

Hey man, I know what you mean. MY dd is a blue BMW. This is my second blue BMW. And it is not navy blue. We are talking about Duke Univ blue, bright. BMW is not exactly subtle on badging and stickers either. M badge in the back, M badge to the side, M badge on the wheels. And I am always in the left lane. "Hey look at me, M POWER! I own the left lane!"

I don't honk or flash slower drivers. But I always wonder what other drivers think when I blow right by.

And I came close to getting a Krypton Green Lotus Elise. It was either that or Chrome orange.

So to me, any color combo and variation of the Spyder isn't so loud. It does turn heads cause it looks good. My blue BMW turns heads because it in your face and in your rearview mirrors.

Nothing against any Ed Hardy wearers out there. Peace.

That's interesting. Case in point, I really like the side decals for their retro look, while my girlfriend doesn't see the "history" in them. She even thinks decals on an original 911 are tacky.
