Virginia is home. I've never seen a Spyder on the road, so I know I'm getting something special. As for other Porsche cars, Northern VA has scads of them. Just hope it's real. I guess the pro-forma order sheet from Porsche will solidify it for me. Then I become pen pals with my sales guy to watch the play by play!

Yep. And lots of others on dspyda.com. Guards Red was the only option in my mind, probably since childhood! I wouldn't have done the roll bars if I hadn't visited this site. Looks great and that's in my configuration now.

So, how bad is the noise top up at highway speeds? Off topic a bit, but interested. In fact, I'm getting this car without having ever driven it at all. Just too hard to find them. A leap of faith and confidence in all the positive press and posts here. I've driven a Cayman S and I couldn't stop smiling, so I'm feeling good!

I am in NJ. If you are in the area we can go out for a ride...if that is not an option have you had the opportunity to at least drive a regular Boxster? I don't mind the road noise at all ... I love the open air and the interaction with the environment...

Noise with the top on at 80 MPH is very reasonable with the back piece in place. It's a little louder with the back piece off but not enough to get in the way of a normal conversation or listening to the radio.

I had a very brief test drive in a Spyder and it was enough to sell me on the car. If you liked the Cayman imagine having the top off and the additional noise from the exhaust. It is an incredible car that is very satisfying to drive and it's the only car I have ever driven where I immediately felt familar with everything from the steering, pedals, clutch and other functional controls on the dash. Everything is exactly where you would expect it and the car responds like its hard wired to your brain. Hard to explain until you drive it but I've seen the same thing written in many articles.

Thanks for all the info. Hope to place the order this morning. Looking forward to hearing more of that engine. Don't know if I said it here, but I'm fitting this with PSE, so even more fun on that front. Can't wait for the Fall.

Definitely get the PSE. I took my Spyder out earlier this week and I usually immediately hit the PSE button before leaving the garage. Well this particular instance I forgot to do that and noted something was missing from the experience. I looked down and realized I hadn't turned on the PSE! It makes a HUGE difference.

With the PSE turned off I was driving much faster (read I was hitting the gas more often to try to hear it) and I was well past legal limits without even realizing it.

Porsche should have sold the car with the PSE on all the time and the option to shut it off if needed.

Defintely get PSE or go aftermarket. The standard exhaust is much to quiet and leaves you wanting more all the time.

Has anyone weighed (or has the figures) for the PSE exhaust vs. the standard exhaust?

Default register your Spyder at dspyda.com

best way for us to know colors/options is to get everyone to register at dspyda.com
