eliminating ignition key for push button
Looking to eliminate the key to turn the car on, we have only one key and it's falling apart. I understand that there is a rig that needs to be kept or it can cause problems, has anybody done it for there boxster? any idea where I should look? or ask?

I had the same issue with my SPB, only 1 key. Rather than replacing the key with a push button system, I just removed the key pill and taped it to the transponder by the ignition. Then had a spare key cut for $30. Done. And I don’t have all the issues with adding a master power switch and start button.

I did the same as Tim, however I had to fiddle a bit with locating the pill on the ignition switch for them to 'talk'. I ended up pulling the trim bezel off the front and taped the pill near the closest edge.

What’s the legality of this? There’s nothing in the rule book that says modifying the ignition is OK. Obviously no performance advantage, but I can think of folks who would protest someone over this

Of course, the best person to ask is Walt Fricke (walterfricke@msn.com), if you are considering this modification.
