Default Runoffs update - Day 1 of qualifying

We are running our Spec Boxster in T3 here at Indy for the SCCA Runoffs. The car is 3 seconds faster on the Hoosier 225's than on the Toyo 255 RR's, much to our surprise. We've qualified 2nd so far with 3 more days to go. The 370z is on pole and there are a bunch of Spec e46's close behind. It's a tight field, and another great option for the Spec Boxster to race (SCCA T3).

Interested to see how the trans holds up with all that extra stick.

Good luck at the run-offs!

Congrats. What made you go with the 225 instead of the 245 tire?

SCCA botched the rules and typed 225 instead of 255. For 2018 the 255 (245 Hoosier) will be legal for SPB in T3 (rule already amended for Jan 1).

Looks like you didn't go out in qualifying session #2. Several cars moved up ahead of you. Oh no!

Sure glad that car ended up in T3 and not T4. Good run so far.

No point in running today or tomorrow. Weather cools down for Thursday and that's the day the pole will be decided. We have a plan and we are ready

I’m surprised 370z is in the same class. Big power difference no? I can see running with SE46 being a lot of fun. Good luck this weekend!

Todd, are you running the 40 or 45 aspect 225 tire? Both have greatly reduced circumference relative to the SPB 255 tire (2 and 1 inches respectively).

There is also a small effect of weight being 3 and 2 lbs lighter/tire than the 255 RR.

Todd,
Flying over the track today, it looked like cars were running the moto gp course, not the indy car gp course? is that the case?

The Nissans are fast for sure. Qualified 2nd overall to a 350Z. Had a pole lap going but caught traffic (we run with B Spec cars and they are significantly slower, causing a little mayhem).

Everyone threw on Hoosier A's (super sticky) for the final qual session, including myself. Talk about grip! I think we blew out a front hub. So we have some decisions to make in terms of tire for the race - A7 vs R7.

Cecil and David are running their SPB's as well.

Final results for qual:

Running the 45 aspect tire. It's pretty close to the Toyo circumference.

The configuration is unique to Runoffs.

Live coverage of the race at 4:45pm today - just go to SCCA.com and follow the link to watch.
