Default Vehicle Thefts - Some Stats Released Today

Saw a headline on Star site, don't pay so can't get full details. If somebody wants to search for more info and post, please do.

Carjackings have more than doubled in Toronto so far this year.

B&E for purpose of car theft have already exceeded the total number for all of 2023. We're only 2.5 months in.

Anybody think a solution is needed? Beyond hanging keys outside your front door. (slightly exaggerated for effect from the original officers statement).

Feel free to chime in but an officer at the local bar said no one will steal a classic MANUAL Porsche to sell on - maybe a joy ride, but pros are interested in Japanese SUV's. Several Lexus SUV's have been taken on my crescent but the half dozen Porsche and Audi SUVs untouched. Apparently our most likely next SUV - Tellurides and Palisades - are also at risk.

Today it's more so about profit from resale in the export market. No doubt the other use cases still exist.

Curious, what kind of jail time would you get for using a firearm to protect your family?

So if you kill two that would be 16 days?

the criminal code allows you to use as much force on the invader as they are using on my family. if they are using firearms so am I. the answer to your question is NONE.

What if they're not using firearms?

it isn't the weapon, it's the level of force. if they use potentially lethal force or enough to cause serious bodily injury then so can I. if not I kick their butt out the door.

You can only use reasonable force for the situation at hand. No guns for them, no guns for you. As a Black Belt, I've attended a number of presentations on this topic over the years and had a number of students who where Police Officers. The time spent will mostly be determined by your lawyers. 2 of my close Karate friends got into a fight in downtown Hamilton a number of years ago. They were outnumbered and 2 guys from the other side pulled knives. My friends disarmed them and then used the knives to defend themselves - it happened quickly. They did 3 years each. Being "experts" and the other guys not having a chance to actually use their knives played a large role in their sentences. My friends had ****ty lawyers.

How badly did they hurt the other guys with the knives?
