I can't even believe what I just saw. That's A LOT of pictures. I'm glad I had the patience to go through most of them just now. Incredible!!!!!! Thx for posting this amazing collection. I never heard of it before today.
This weekend, I ventured down Dayton way for some exciting Porsche action. The Ohio Valley Region PCA was hosting an event for the ages. An early morning “Cars and coffee” style event, followed by a 100 mile rally through the back roads, culminating in a very well attended Porsche car show at the local dealership, White-Allen.
Don’t worry, I’ll regale you with tales of the other two thirds of the trip later. For now, I’m going to focus on the wonders that lay within the walls of the relatively externally nondescript Taj Ma Garaj. Just a handful of the cars in this collection would have been absolutely worth the 200 mile drive, and 3 AM red-eye departure that I had to “endure” to see it all.
A Carrera GT with 12 miles on the odometer? Check. A Rothmans 944 Turbo Cup car? Check. A 964 Turbo Flachbau? Check.
The most interesting piece, however is the Taj Ma Garaj special, a custom 356 “Sedan Delivery” with rare Rudge knock-off wheels, and a Carrera twin-cam engine.
More coming tomorrow with a full report on the intricacies of getting lost on the back roads of the Dayton countryside with 50 or 60 of your best Porsche friends.
Been in there twice (I live in Dayton) and it is really amazing. He rents the place out for parties and gatherings....may have my retirement party there.
The bar and game room upstairs is not-to-be-missed either.
Last Saturday, after a 3 hour drive to Dayton, a visit to the Taj Ma Garaj, and an extra long PCA-style road rally, all of us concluded our collective journey at the Dayton area Porsche, Audi, Volkswagen, and Jaguar dealer, White-Allen.
There were many awards handed out at this show, with ten of them going to best in show recipients, and an additional three going to special categories. The categories being Best Engine, Best Wheels, Most Unusual, and Most Cosmetically Challenged. 9Magazines project 944, the 1983 Zermatt sunroof coupe with 183,000 miles, can officially be dubbed award winning, and can you guess which award it won?
Please enjoy the remainder of our photographs from the event, and if you are ever in the area, look up the Ohio Valley Region PCA for a good time!
Special thanks to OVRPCA, Taj Ma Garaj, and White-Allen for supporting this event, it was a great time, and I look forward to more time in the greater Dayton area in the near future!
Jager, I only attended the show. I didnt have time for the earlier stuff. BTW, that is John Dixon (TAJ collection owner) in the gray shirt behind my car. It was a fun little show. No P2O though
Mark-- IMHO, getting Daedton's C4S & adding the ducktail were both great ideas

Front license plate options get a lot of discussion.
Compare these two Caymans; 1 of the 1st U.S. attempts I've seen of a contour-hugging adhesive / magnetic legal-looking license:

Thanks Jager,
Actually, it had the ducktail and the stock decklid when I bought it.
I took it off for awhile. It was an early RS themed car with the wheels powdercoated blue and graphics. Since I have had it I have put on KW V3 coilovers, RS LWF, wheels, oem leather console, CPZ OE 3 spoke with leather airbag, FD stage 2, FD SSK and GR, FD 200 cel cat on order and probabily a few more things I cant remember. Pretty much done at this point. With the ducktail, I swap it out from time to time.
