Default Ron looks like your following me

I am so glad we got to meet before I left NC. I purchased a 79 5 speed from a guy in Utah when I got up here. It adds an OB to my collection. I hope the resto goes smooth. I hope the wife calms down. You can always blame me for your growing collection.

Keep on saving these magnificent cars.

Harvey

Yes they cleaned up very nicely. If I can get her running, I plan on keeping....

Got a problem...in disassembly, I damaged the hardline flare where the rubber hose meets at the bottom of the wheel well (the supply line). I can cut it, and reflare, but...I do not know what kind of flare or tool to get....any ideas? It sure isn't an open flare like I use in refrigeration...

In the meantime, I made some new fuel lines for under the hood....I tried using some 500 psi burst racing fuel line, braided stainless, and ethanol impervious (got it from summit). Worked great on the larger fittings, but I couldn't get it tight enough on the smaller fittings, so one steel line, and (1) rubber line.....we will see how that goes....that damn damaged flare is going to prevent me from starting this thing this weekend...grrrrr.

Got the flare leak solved...not quite how I wanted, but I cleaned it all up with a dremel wire brush, degreased with carb cleaner, and dried, then used loctite red on the flare face and threads, screwed on the hose, and let it cure. Not the best solution, but the swivel of the hose is at the fuel filter, and allows for filter and accumulator removal. The original one lasted 38 years, so I will readdress if it starts leaking, or hopefully, in another 38 years....

Reassembled, pulled off coil wire, and cranked over to build fuel pressure....leaks all over the dammn place.....I made a joint under the fender well, where the PO cut the end off the accumulator, and used a straight piece of brass to join the 2 rubber ends...I brazed a "ring" on the cut line entering the accumulator and shoved the hose over it, and clamped to prevent it from popping off, but accidentally grabbed the PO's brass fitting instead of the barbed one I had just bought ( too much crack I guess)...leaking like a bear right there...my own fault. I will remove that joint soon and run a new hose from the accumulator to the pump. Anyway, put in the barbed fitting and tightened, leak fixed.

Leaking at the small joint I had to make just before the pump outlet...just had to tighten up the clamps a little...

A sheetload of fuel leaking under the hood.....my just made rubber hose was leaking like a screen door on a submarine...I thought it felt loose on the barbs....turned out that for some reason this Euro has a little bit smaller barbs than on my 78 or 82...I had to switch to 5/16 barricade fuel line...that did the trick...no more big leaks...still have a little fuel seepage on top of the distributor, hope to resolve that this weekend....tried to start her up...rumbled a couple times, then backfired at the sensor plate.....got called up for dinner, so I am ready to try to get her to fire.

Called an ISO bubble. Due to the diameter of the line, you really need to use a hydraulic tool to make a new flare. I took the whole line off and had a local shop do it for me. I also needed a new fitting which wasn't easy to find. Due to the bend in the line, I needed to straighten it and use a AN elbow to connect the Greg Brown hose.

Lights popped up, lense fell off, she gone.

question, are the left and right glass lenses the same? I have a spare passenger side lense...the broken one is from the drivers side.

i am so bummed.
