I really want to refresh my suspension completely with something that will work for street and the 5 or 6 track days I do a year.
I really liked this video where he gets poly bushings, ohlins coilovers and tarret sway bars and end links.
It transformed his 996 and eliminated the understeer.
What would be the most affordable complete suspension package I could get? Anyone sell a complete package? Can it be done for less than $1,500 For example using Ceika Coilovers (or any other affordable brand) and polybushings and H&R swaybars and end links? Where in California can someone set it up correctly with strings like in the video?
I went with the ROW M030 suspension which I believe to be a good compromise between street and track. Granted it doesn't have a very aggressive stance and there isn't the ability to adjust settings like you would on coilovers but for an economical solution it's worth considering.
Search on ebay, there are a few brand new Techart packages discounted a lot.
I think it will cost you a little more than your estimate.
You need to find a happy medium between daily driver and something that handles well on the track.
I went with Techart Springs, Sway bars and strut mount, Bilsten B8 (as recommended by Techart).
Then ordered every nut, washer and replaceable item.
It took me several months to gather everything, but it was worth it.
I had a few different instructors/club racers who remarked the car was well sorted for handling.
Take your time and do it right, it costs more to do it twice.

Whichever package you purchase I highly recommend Darrin at West End Alignment for the install and set up.
Darrin is located in Gardena and well known for setting up 911's.
Hard to beat the row mo30 kit for bang for the buck. Springs sway bars and shocks

Just did the m030 on my '04 C2 cab and it is an outstanding package for spirited street driving. Might not be the best for serious track/competitive auto cross applications but now the car handles corners with significantly less understeer, less body roll and less rear squat under acceleration. Ride is firmer, more planted but not uncomfortable even to my wife. Car ride height only lowered about 1cm so still retained speed bump/driveway clearance. This is how a street Porshe should feel to me.
Found this through a PCA member in New York with a new-in-box full Carnewal kit for $1k US delivered. He traded in his 996 before installing and was tired of tripping over the box in his garage. Thanks Gabe! Great deal and great seller and I'm loving the transformation.
If your budget is $1500.00 , your choices are somewhat in this realm,
This is if you do it your self w/ exception of Alignment.
Personally, I think one factor to consider is quality of products your putting on.

Mine came with a set of additional Bilstein B8's F/R w H&R Sport Springs + bought used H&R Adj.
Stock bushings and drop links in great shape.
It feels great, not to low, but low enough. My original setup had 31K miles, so not worn at all. This is very much improved, Firm but not harsh at all. My Conti's for the street are new,

spending slightly more (or less) and being delighted
I was lucky enough to go from M030 suspension to coilovers and upgraded sways
and a week later, new tires and alignment completely transforming the car

How much were the bushings ?
Did you install them yourself ?
If not, how much for labor to install ?
in the earlier thread I suggest the simpler setup , the main reason being it's something that a owner could do with modest tool box and loaner compressor, but while the coilovers can also be installed by owner OP had a budget of $1500.00. That's pretty limiting on budget for quality components to go to the next level.
I watched the youtube video that was included, and it makes me wonder what was his cost, and how much was pro bono for including the shop in the video.
Personally I'm thinking $3,500-$4,000 for all he had done.

Any bushing work I've done, I have to go to my buddy garage to use the press and torch kit or drop it off at the local shop.
any squeaks with those bushings now hat you've had them for a while?

I cannot see a complete overhaul of 996 Suspension for less than $3500 minimum in parts.
Just start to add up strut mounts, sway bars, springs and shocks, that is well over $2k and you are just getting started.
Put labor and a quality alignment, you get the picture.
I've got a full set of the same powerflex bushes that are in the video , they really pull it all together .
You have a full set of bushings, coilovers, sway bars, and end links? This would be considered a complete suspension package in my opinion. Basically what the guy in the video did.
So how has it held up? Was it expensive? the bushes are cheap.
