Any ideas? Thanks.
Suggest you send Colin [Lizard] a PM- he is the Canadian guru on recoating these things.

What do we know about the contribution of environment to the life of the gear coating? Is there more wear in places where blowing abrasive dust is common? The desert southwest versus Ontario?

FYI I just bought from the local dealer a new set, with my PCA discount it was around $500 CAD for both gears which is a good price vs recoating and it would be a steal for our American friends considering the value of the USD...

I had Fireball do my cam gears and crank gear, reasonable price and they turned out good.

Fireball would be my choice. They are quick and have a drop location closer to downtown if you need it. Ask for Mark.

Cheers

I wonder if anyone has tried coating the cam gears with a home applied DFL coating?

I've been looking at a few that sound interesting:

3.5 summers and 25k km's.

Water pump has failed, leaking badly at the main shaft. Cam gears UGH.

Plan:
New cam gears
New water pump
Rebuild stock tensioner
Front main seal
New steel oil pump gear
Oil pump seal and o-rings

But glad the pump failed in my driveway.

And yes Fireball does a molly coating that works well. Last set I did where $80 for the pair IIRC.
