CLEARANCE ISSUES.
Sounds so much more attractive to call it "hand fitting".
Went to bolt up intake manifold on engine & won't quite fit. Guess what I also figured out? If you hang the turbo in the method I have chosen then you really can't rotate the impeller housing, so you much be very accurate! I've since clearanced the alt bracket but need to grind at the balance shaft housing.
Also found grinding at the ribs on the TB for washer & bolt head clearance was a key move.
When I drilled the t.b. holes I did it based on centering the bores. Yes I mostly eye-balled it but geez, must be within 1/16"... there just isn't wiggle room. Anyway, it's very snug, but everything is "do-able".
intake bore to plate bore to t.b. bore was my chosen way to centre these items. It's a logical way methinks. This t.b. is very very soft material & very very lightweight & thin, so at all points one must treat with respect.
Installed Porsche 944S/951 knock sensor in oem location near coolant temp sensors.
The good news is the n/a cable routing is pretty close to perfect.

I've heard stories about "hand-built" Lotus cars having replacement part fitment issues...
like a guy who went to replace his Elise headlight couldn't get it to fit - the original headlight as fitted to the car had been sanded/ground down to fit..

The support in this community is amazing. Thanks for making a point to speak up & support me. I think of you as one of the "handier guys" with these cars and not afraid to tackle the big jobs.
Gramps has been sold and the proceeds of his sale helped pay for Wilson's new mods. I have been also selling all spare parts I won't use & "collections" of other things. Work had been slow the last two years & things started getting really bad, but now I have a great job!
One thing Gramps taught me is I am happier to have one car to treat really well then 2 cars I treat less well.

Eventually I removed the alt & alt bracket then the turbo fits. This morning I started wondering how easy it is to swap the ac cond & alt positions i the engine bay.

Great ideas gentlemen. I'm just kind of tired, so took 2 daze off and taking everything in, so I can react to my situation in a practical & non-emotional way.
KVDR-the main problem I was facing in regards to clearance is the alt bracket itselve & not the alt... though the alt seems to be a bit in the road for air ducting; your comment inspired my to search the subject & this seems to be a common reason to change to the Nissan.

Dougs951S on here and myself have been doing R&D on big turbo fitment (Holsets in our cases) and a phenolic spacer between the manifold and head gives a little more room. Combined with a spacer between the turbo and mount (on the oil drain flange, for the hotside to clear the turbo mount) it opens a lot of possibilities. With your turbo mounting approach you could probably get away with less.

Got some upgrade bolts for the TB/turbo hanger (10.9 instead of Porsche 8.8)
Mud & exhaust. It's a difficult case to clean. In the garage I'm trying to avoid using harsh chemicals (like brake clean) for "general duty"... several reasons for this, but namely health and cost. For the last 16 months (since tackling Gramp's fuel and mold smell) I have started using vinegar and water and now I add dish soap & spray 9. It's my general cleaner/degreaser. I spray that $hit on everything!
Gasket match ported the oem headers. How much hp will that make? I dunno? My guess is 2 hp n/a and maybe 5 hp at full boost? The headers were matched really well from factory but since I ported the head I don't want the exhaust hitting a wall at the header port. Its okay to be too big on the exhaust side, its not okay to be too big at the head. I'd say these are now dead-same as the head ports.
I make old feel rejuvenated! Clean is good karma!

One day I will buy a band saw. Until then I use jigsaws, drills, hammers... whatever.
Wanted to at least try to keep all bolts in place for the bracket rather than chop the corner right off.
I cut it along the casting seam.
WOOHOO! Gobs & gobs of clearance at the alt bracket.
The problem now is the big alternator to air inlet clearance
This air ducting is from the same crown vic Ford that supplied the Throttle Body.
