Hanging at Smokies where there are something like 70 GT cars. It helps to look at different colors in real like to compare/contrast. A few thoughts:
-gt silver is still amazing.. looks almost as good as the liquid metallic on our 918.. at the new $700 price, consider it a perfect end in itself, OR, a canvas for stickers.
-sport classic grey is also amazing.. also a great canvas for contrasting stickers. The weissach in SCG and ghosted Salzburg and little acid green accents is insane.
-so many white cars.. always beautiful... but so many white cars.
-sapphire blue is very attractive in real life with PCCB and black wheels.
-don't fear the skittles.. there are a few orange and blue pts cars and even as GT3's, not even RS's, they look fantastic.
-I still don't like the current stock yellow.. just not my bag.
-go for contrast!!! I used to think matching was the way to go, but when you see yellow with red, or blue and silver and red bits, or UV with silver and red brakes.. those are the cars which stick out of the group. I just learned this.
-carmine is not as attractive on a GT3 as it is on a gt4 somehow... hard to explain.
-light cars look great with dark light and black wheels, dark cars look great with light wheels and headlights.
Also here at Smokies GT and agree with much of above, especially the part about contrast being key and so many white cars. I think I'd only do white in combination with some great contrasting graphics.
Yesterday, I visited PEC Atlanta and there happened to be a Chalk/Crayon Panamera Turbo parked next to my GT Silver GT3 so I took these couple shots to show the difference in real life. Also a white Macan behind to show the contrast with Chalk and Silver.
In person, Chalk didn't wow me, honestly. Then again, neither does the similar and more bespoke (just because they're PTS???) Fashion Grey, Sport Classic Grey, or Nardo Grey, all of which I've seen here at Smokies too and elsewhere...
And my personal favorite color combo here at GT Smokies.... the Ultraviolet GT3 RS combined with bright Satin Aluminum wheels and wing uprights, yellow PCCBs, and interior with platinum stitching. Deep, rich, beautiful color, great pop and contrast with the wheels, and beautifully understated interior with just the right amount of accents in platinum silver against black, nothing too over the top.
