This is how a gearhead garage supposed to look like and not like the ones that look like a pharmacy, not much work happens in those I guarantee.

I put down 960 square feet of VCT in my garage in December of 2007. Over the last 8 years I have put many hours into keeping it looking good. Several tiles have been replaced due to stains, damage or poor installation.

I would not recommend this type of floor for anyone's garage unless they are prepared to invest the time and energy to keep it up. I have a high speed polisher to burnish it with one (or twice) a month.

I have also learned to lay down tarps and mover's blankets when doing car repairs.

Love the look, but it is a labor of love. If I was doing it again I would look hard at the porcelain tiles.

Danpic - where might I ask does that "to code" statement apply? The house in my pic is on the east coast but I also live in Santa Barbara too.

This thread has inspired me to do some work on my garage. Painted walls, ceiling and duct work. Clad the walls in aluminum roofing, built in storage on the right wall, installed LED lighting. Added Nicolas Hunziker posters. Still need to do the floor. Looking at race deck red border with black and gray racing check pattern. Name: photo510.jpg

Still haven't done the floor but did make some cool handles and hooks from actual wrenches. Time consuming but totally worth it.

Great pics, Slope! My garage is still my gym; the addition that will take all the exercise stuff to free up the garage is 3 weeks from CO, so hopefully I'll be posting pics soon-ish too. Lots of great ideas in this thread.

Here are a few images of my garage taken a bit ago. Pretty much appears the same but I plan on expanding the garage (tool chest side) for three more cars (4 if I get a storage lift), I DO like the in floor lift execution so I may be looking into that if I I have issues with a standard "service" lift next to the storage lift.

In essence image enough room to place a car in it's stall (display) with yours truly art work behind catering to the individual car...

That's the idea anyway

Yes I still have the Elise. The extension would be on the tool box side, I'll have to take some with the Porsche's when the extension / Project is completed...Don't hold your breath tho... lol It'll be awhile...

Below taken quite few years ago...(where does the time go???) I was restoring my TVR at that time and holding my then annual "Car Party" ...

Sweet Honda! What year?

The garage looks like a killer space. Tons of room to work with. How do you like your Lotus? Always thought they would be a lot of fun on the track.

And the artwork I mentioned by "yours truly" would be a combination of all techniques below...

Hard to day until I actually do them. However they will be very large (say 8'x4'' on canvas behind the associated vehicle.

Thanks! I've worked on it being a decent place to work plus the added element of cleanliness. I've always had a thing for Lotus since I was a kid and when I learned the Elise was announced I pounced! It's wonderful car in the track and on the canyon roads in So Cal... To be honest it's fragile to an extent so these days I'd rather rum ny MINI (R53) rather than it,

As for space, yes its nice but more cars equal not enough space...lol That said I added an Elan S2 as I wanted to fulfill the goal while I could of having the spiritual successor to the Elise (and what started me on the Lotus bug when I was a kid) to the stable at the same time.

Call me "challenged"....
