A lot (if not most) web hosting companies will give you access through a web portal to change/review your "A" records and "MX" records. After you are past this current episode, request the web portal access and then copy your records in case this happens again. If this does happen again, you can get someone , if not yourself, to check the records to see if anything changed and make the necessary changes (24/7/365) to restore service without having to wait for the customer service drones. Absolutely great advice. I would also suggest you would either wish to host the site with someone local who has personal relationships with the businesses they manage, or a larger place like Amazon where there is redundancy, continuity, and a demonstrated history of uptime. And you probably won't get disconnected.
