I guess some people have more money than brains, but hey more power to him if he's got the coin. I don't think R prices will go down to MSRP after the .2GT3 is released, but I sure wouldn't want to be the guy who dropped $300k-$400k over MSRP on an R...just sayin.

Again, the guys dropping $300-400k over on an R likely have that in their sofa cushions. They probably wouldn't bat an eye if that money evaporated. Why does everyone think others have the same means and perspectives that they do?

If I had that money lying around, I'd pay the huge premium, drive the **** out of it and enjoy every second of it. Probably more people like that than you think.

Let's see!

Option 1, buy a 991R for a $500k and take a 300k hit driving and looking at it.

Option 2, Race a 911 for 2years and waste the same amount of money.

Hmmmm,

Tough question. 😂😂😂😂😃

Just because you can and have the means to do so, doesn't mean it's a smart move. But hey what do I know, I'm just a poor working class plebe.

Everyone said this about the 918. Look at what those are trading for....
Apples oranges. Maybe. Reality in this market is $ to burn baby burn.

If I had that money lying around I would go to the seller and tell him he is a greedy *****. I would never pay an artificially made premium, regardless of how much I have lying around. It's not the money that is the difference, it's the mentality of money.

You must be working harder than me, because I am working class and can't buy your cars.

I know several people who got an R. Every single one flipped it. Which makes sense. If you can double your money immedialty you will because let's face it if you got an R you have lots of other cars

My friend's R should be here in two weeks. The spouse is aware of the R's resale value and wants the car flipped immediately. This will be fun to watch.

It is not only the 911R that have sky rocketed like this. The 997.2 GT3RS 4.0 even with miles doubled its MSRP value, and more if the miles were minimal. Carrera GT (limited production car) and 918 Spyder (Numbered car) had the same thing.

Ferrari F12tdf last summer sold one for $1.54M which has a MSRP of about $500K. The gist of the story here is any "Numbered" car will always command premium regardless of Brand affiliation.

Realistically, I do not see the 911R go down in the secondary market for MSRP. To those who have the 911R, just appreciate the fortune and luck that you can enjoy it. To each his/her own.

Drive safe,

Exactly. Some people just don't get it on these boards.

in one episode of shark tank ,it was casually mentioned that Damon and Mark Cuban drop 150 k for a table in Miami at a night club
Does any one here think they care about 500 k on a car ???
some people just have a lot of money to burn and good for them

Problem is the use of the word 'smart'. A word that's open to interpretation and perspective if there ever was one. To some, sitting around waiting for a car to come down in price while the years tick away is stupid, while paying what is a rounding error on their monthly investment earnings to have and enjoy it now is smart.

And I can't 'afford it' either, per se. Like many on this board, I'm a millions guy, not a tens of millions guy. IMO, cars at this price require tens of millions in net worth to make sense. But again, just my perspective, YMMV.

At $530K, this car is most likely still for sale. Let them ask what they want. It's hilarious and makes Porsche look bad in my opinion while pissing off long time loyal buyers. So nice of the OP to advertise this "deal" to the guys on the board here.

Guys with this much money to burn are buying cars much more flashy than something the average Joe couldn't tell the difference between the R and a $110K used 991.1 GTS.
