I happy to have the 8ZF paddle shift. I think its the best box for this car - extra and shorter ratios keep the car working in the higher rpm zone where its more exciting by all accounts and overall performance is better. Front what Ive read the 6MT wasnt particularly slick (bit notchy). Im actually surprised Im the only one of here (apart from an Italian gentlemen) that I know who is ordering it. Cant wait...
As much as I love the idea of this car as a daily, and as an Italian who loves the brand, the potential issues still scare me too much.. I'll wait a year or two to make sure the kinks get worked out. I of course don't wish for there to be ANY issues, but If porsche can have such teething problems with such an iterative car as the 911, with generations of development, then Alfa would have a hard time doing better straight out of the box with such an overachiever of a machine. But maybe with as much Ferrari influence as this Giulia has, maybe the pros worked it all out?
Fortune favours the brave Alex. The Alfa has had a long gestation and plenty of shake down time before mine will be manufacturered in the New Year. By that time punters will have been driving these 9 months in LHD Europe. Only time will tell but to be quite honest NOTHING could be worse than 3 engines, four thermostats and a full set of Brembo Callipers so far under warranty on my 2.5 year old Porsche 911 GT3 could it?
Porsche have set the bar very low for me on new car acquisitions! Nothing phases me any more. Lifes short and its like iPhones by the time you justify an upgrade the new one is only months away, but if you hang back on that strategy perhaps you never quite get a new iPhone LOL!
"Alfa Romeo has pulled a fast one on us Americans by removing a key feature from the 505-hp Giulia Quadrifoglio‘s U.S. equipment list: a manual transmission. FCA now says that the high-performance sedan will only be offered with an eight-speed automatic here, contradicting a previous announcement that the Getrag six-speed manual transmission would be standard equipment."
The paddle shift auto is better suited to the engine/car according to most who have driven both. Im not fussed personally on MT for DD...
Had read the same but forgot, thanks for the reminder. Was willing to accept poor shifter feel for the opportunity to relive my Milano/75 days. I'll try and keep an open mind about it.
At this point I'm just hoping a car actually makes it stateside...
I have been lusting after this car since it was launched and am very keen to hear Macca's story when he takes delivery.......but I have not been able to work out in my head which car to trade. Can't keep them all. I like my GT3, I like my GTS Cab, etc. But I think I just found my answer!
Instead of buying a Guilia Quadrifoligio - A Stelvio Quadrifoligio - just launched in LA. It would be a very nice replacement for my Macan Turbo. Same size...more HP...more interesting design. I like what I am seeing.
impressive with the same engine as the Quadrifoglio Giulia.. but kind of looks like someone just photoshopped the Giulia fatter and taller... could have used a little more differentiation.
