Yes this will be just another Timing Belt post, but I figure I would document it and have you guys look over my shoulder as I try to follow Dwayne's incredible 'how to' on the subject. I purchased the following from Roger.
- PKT kit w/ air pump bracket
- Gates timing belt
- Alternator, Power Steering, AC and Air Pump belts
- new Laso Water pump (plastic impeller)
- oil pump front seal
- oil pump o-ring
- 3 o-rings for oil pump bolts
- flywheel lock tool --> I figured I would need it again...so why not
This morning I put the car on Ken's Lift-bars, disconnected battery ground, emptied the coolant and removed the coolant hoses.
Just a thought... Before I started my '87 TB/WP done I noticed some weeping near the input to the radiator. A little bit or research from 928intl and another source found me a radiator shop to re-tab/install the new end tanks. If memory serves me correct I picked up two new end tanks as part of the process but just looked and did not see any on 928intl.
My cam gears also were worn badly so 928intl also hooked me up with those and many, many other parts...
Ok. Still working on getting the fan shroud out. Looks like I need to remove the oil and atf cooler lines going into the radiator.
Started cleaning up area around oil pan. It is nasty.
I removed the passenger side timing belt cover and took some pics of the gear and belt.
Once the fans are out, cut a piece of cardboard and fix it to the radiator, take lots of photos.
Don't forget to torque up the crank bolt before you remove the flywheel lock like me.

I've replaced my entry (hot) side end tank twice over the years, bought from 928 International. See this page:
I finally got the fan shroud out of the way once I removed the top oil and atf cooler hoses. I did notice one of the cooler hoses looks cracked.
Once I removed the shroud, I hand tightened the cooler hoses and then removed the driver's side timing belt cover. Driver's side gear also seems to look ok as well. I also peeked in on the oil gear which also look ok...more pics of that when I get there.
Thanks for pointing out Bill! Looked right over it.
To OP, I see the pics of the cam gears - noticed some pitting but could not make out what the wear was like. I guess if you can, and while you are there, try some new cam gears?
Alex, you are right. After I rotated the engine to 4|5. (check my rotor position) I noticed the coating was off of the driver's side cam gear. Looks like I need new gears...I will dig deeper before I order though, you never now what else is lurking in there.
You might be able to recoat those gears. It's hard to tell, but if you can put a straight edge across the teeth and not see light in the middle, then the teeth are ok.
Lots of previous threads on this.
Keep in mind that a new set of 32v gears is not cheap.
