It seems like teenage boys definitely know about this car. Almost every time I'm at the gas station, some kid will give me a thumbs up or ask me about the car. A lot of people seem to be curious about it.

Some of the MANY custom ones around really look awesome, but by the time you do all that stuff to them, they're as expensive as my Raptor, and they ride like poop.... seriously, give a Raptor a drive!!!

I think it's the price point, I think it was just too low and opened the doors to more owners. Plus not many dealers were marking up the car, this helps in getting the car in the hands of more newcomers. All the guys that grew up wishing and wanting finally are that point in their lives were they can spend $85k-$100k for a weekend car. Heck you can get a 2007 997.1 GT3 for roughly the price of a moderately spec'ed GT4 - remember when those were the cream of the crop? Times and cars have adjusted. It is just what is hot right now. Soon something else will come along and it'll be all the rage. I attribute sales to the media hype. Which made me wonder how many of those auto journalists actually bought this car after raving about it.

- Most journalists don't get paid enough to snack in the 100K bracket
- And, even if they were, they would run into the same supply issue other potential owners faced

I'm not sure if I'm the only one seeing this, but the GT4 seems to have developed its own unique culture/cult following. It seems like its becoming the "cool" car to have for any type of enthusiast.
Everything from street tuning, to hardcore tracking, to wild color graphics, to stripper car appreciation have already been accepted and although the price point is not outrageous, people and children already see it as target dream car. Since I've had mine, I think I've actually received more mouth drops/thumbs ups than I did with my 997 GT3.
Its as if the price point and limited availability allows people to see the car as attainable, yet unattainable at the same time. Most people see the GT3/2 as car's they'll never be able to afford hence making them poster cars in some ways. The GT4 seems to be the "peoples" car. There really aren't any other sports cars on the market that put everything together as well as the GT4 for a similar price. Its one of the purest sports cars on the market, yet gives you just about everything you need from a livable street car. Lotus makes amazing cars, but you don't get the fit and finish and interior ambiance as with the GT4. In my opinion the Lotus Exige is the closest option.
I think this bit of culture is part what's modulating the GT4's supply/demand curve. Its the car that nobody has, but everybody appreciates and wants.
My review is coming soon. Can't wait to start filming.
Thoughts?
