What's the early/late line? Is it between the 944/1 and 944/2 or between the 944/2 and the 944S?

Check post #16. That is the best way to know for sure which one you have.

Hey, I'm interested in getting a set of these for my 87 944 turbo block build that has the 1 piece integrated cover. A couple of questions though.... Are the rear plugs the same just with different sized seals or are the rear plugs different sizes as well? Currently I have rear plugs that came from my 86 block (2 piece design cover) so I'm wondering if ill need to source new rear plugs or if I just need to put the late seals on them.

I measured these:

Late (integrated cover) rear hole with cover mounted to block 1.300 inches
Late seal surface width on the cover 0.230 inches

Early (2 piece cover) rear hole with cover mounted to block 1.340 inches
Early seal surface width on the cover 0.230 inches
Early plug seal surface O.D. 0.940 inches
Early plug seal surface width 0.285 inches

for the late seals, does the ridge go towards the inside or the outside?

Yeah the pictures show the seals oriented differently, not sure if the picture was accurate or not.

Hi Voith,
I am building a '88 2.5L NA race motor. When will more late seals be available? Thanks, Tom

For real haha. I'd pay a little more if a group buy isn't avaliable. ...any reviews on this as a solid replacement and upgrade?

Anyone have some miles on these seals? My lower balance shaft seal on my 86T started leaking.

Didn't you recieve the package yet? Should be delivered few weeks ago. I sent them about 4 weeks ago and it is usually delivered in 6 days.

Came back from vacation and am really busy atm, must bring in 3 weeks

I'll check your tracking info in the morning,
and reply all seal questions here and pms.

Great, getting them on the plugs is a bit frustrating but it will fall in to place, just don't use sharp tools.

I don't know from the top of my head, would need to measure but judging by this photo, plug, hole and ridge diameters are different, that means there was an obstacle on the casting ridge surface on my test block/cover.

Left early, right late:

Seals were shipped on jul.18th, and were in your local post office on jul.25 but tracking reports '' notice was left because an authorized recipient was not available.''. If they did in fact sent it back, I'll send them again and shipping is on me.

I wanted both ridges to face inside, but on early seals it didn't make sense because of the way the block is cast. So yes late ridges go to the inside, early to the outside.

I need to pay some initial cost for retooling, drive to the company, make arrangements and schedule time for machine+operator and this just doesn't make sense for a pair or two. I'd need at least 10 orders per type paid in advance for making another batch.

I don't think company will even want to do only few pieces since they are quite busy and they won't even consider to mess with micro orders worth few euros.

Make a list and if it comes anywhere near 10 pairs for each type, Ill do it and cover for a few extra pairs to get to at least 40 seals order.
