"THE BAD: ??

1. Coolant was very low and only seemed to be water. filled it with only water again and got the "Low coolant" light to go off, but the temperature continued to rise. Perhaps a bubble in the system?... I am not sure where the bleeder valve is and will look in the A.M."

Old trick in the Auto Auction World: If there's a water system leak, drain the anti-freeze and replace with plain water. You can smell an anti-freeze leak but you can't smell water.

It's a US vin. The front fenders have been replaced w euro ones and the "euro" side marker has been used as the front fender markers. Who know's why? it just is.

What's amazing to me is they found really early euro ones to replace the originals...Unless they "filled" the euro side marker area before putting the euro side markers in front of the wheels? A little odd but with these cars almost 40 years old who know.

As said before I would be checking that oil closely for any signs of water in the oil.

I will keep an eye on the oil. I filled the coolant, left the cap off, turned on the heat and drove it lightly and refilled and the temperature seems to be ok now**
Low coolant warning has gone off too. I let it idle in the driveway and the fans eventually came on. Slow drip from the drivers side front. I suspect a side tank leak.

**Where does the temp guage tend to sit on others cars when letting it idle until the fans come on?

Wherever it feels like.

The temp gauges are notoriously "individualistic" (best word I could think of). They are good at telling you "trends" (if it starts going up, pay attention), but some cars run at the bottom line, others run at the top white line. With the exact same measured temp.

If you want a good idea what the temps actually are, get an IR gun and take real temps at the thermo outlet & water bridge.

That would be unusual as it is almost always the pax side end tank that leaks.

Ooo! Thanks for that info! This may be good new, or possibly worse news. I'll have to take a better look at it. Maybe I will get lucky and it will just be a lose hose.

radiator leak was the power steering belt rubbing the hose. I got a new hose and zip tied it back and all is well. Love this car!! if i can just get the AC working now

You obviously figured out multiquoting but, fyi, you can also just click the left quote icon when you're ready and they will all appear stacked and ready for response.

Beautiful car. The condition of those rear quarters make it look like it lived an indoor life when not on the road.

will
