this should feel like a consolation of sorts for those with a 991.1 gt3.. they will be the only for the forseeable future (and by that I mean generations) with a NA 9000rpm engine.. while potentially delicate, this engine was an engineering marvel relegated to very few cars in the world.
For those of us who don't have one, and are pining for a manual NA gt3.. this 4.0 manual will be something amazing. Now, the question is how to get one.. my suggestion, (and don't tell anyone I said this).. is to go become best friends with a 918 VIP owner.. they already have their R, and they are usually only interested in RS cars.. the Gt3 might be a throw-away allocation for them which you could, you know, ask if you could scoop up off their floor.
best of luck to all those with a 991.2 gt3 manual allocation.. THIS, . will be worth something both to drive and argh... (can't believe I'm saying this)... to maintain it's value even if you choose to put all the GD miles your heart desires on it. However.. if you keep it in a garage as an "investment".. we just may have to ban you. ;-D

Don't worry, they'll pump out more .2GT3s than .1GT3s. There will be enough scrapes left for us poor mo-foes.
"The manual gear lever was completely hidden from view however, the Gen2 steering wheel was noticeably bereft of the paddle shift levers seen on the PDK-equipped prototypes also in attendance during the test, while the tachometer’s gear indicator was conspicuous by its absence.
Away from the transmission mysteries, the redline on the rev counter can just be made out at the 8,800rpm mark, heavily suggesting that the Porsche 991.2 GT3 will come equipped with the GT3 RS’s 4.0-litre, 500hp flat six (a move which further strengthens the manual gearbox rumours thanks to the 911 R association)."
I'm hoping that the .2GT3 steering wheel will be smaller like the GT4 steering wheel. I also would like to get the auto-blip feature that the GT4 has...makes me sound like a pro downshifting.
FWIW, I test drove a 991.2 S and was expecting negative feelings. WRONG. Compared the 991.1 C4S I had, the new car is faster, sounds almost as good, has sexier looks and is, in my opinion, a much better car and I much prefer NA engines. I already placed an order for a 991.2 Targa 4S (MT) to be my daily driver. Many people have different issues with turbo charged cars, mine are exhaust sound, exhaust sound and turbo lag. From what I have seen thus far in the non GT cars, those appear to be significantly less of an issue than in the recent past. I have little doubt the new iteration of the beloved track cars, if and when they become turbo charged, will eventually be hailed as another marvel, after all the fuss dies down. Would love to get one.
Agree. Auto industry is learning how to make turbos that don't drive like "turbos"; not perfect yet but closing the gap on NA differences.
