Spencer, it's an interesting idea. I haven't done any "jumps" in the car... and wouldn't really want to in the stock format.

At this stage I want to keep the car competitive on the road & offroad. Not sure what to do about suspension... the only complaint I have is with a trunk full of junk (which it IS for TSD rallies), I hear and feel something klunking & I see sweat from the shocks. So I'd like to stiffen it, and have the option of raising it. So I'm thinking maybe coil overs added to the existing torsion bars. Is that crazy?

I like simple solutions like that. Do you have any ideas directing the air? You could use a threaded reducer pipe attached to hose to direct the air on you.

M,

That's a good idea mate. I'll probably go that route once other details are hammered out. I will coat the panel adhesive with paintable seam seal since panel bonding agent isn't designed to be submerged in water.

I realized right before cutting the 4" hole that if I put a full cage with a diagonal roof bar in, that it has to be as high as possible for clearance.

The end piece has an o-ring and can be screwed easily without tools.

I wanted something that extends higher than the roof line to keep water out, and then I'll cut small slots in the back of the scoop to allow the rain to have some place to go.

The scoop & the plumbers pipe & hole saw cost me $60 in total.

The idea came to me after looking at Lancia kit cars

(note: the sunroof was "flipped" for 1.5" more clearance).

you've got a roof cleanout...

now you just need to find a super-powerful shop vac and connect to the plug, and you can vacuum the whole car in one go!

If I got time I'll pull the rear sway before next event, I'd like to try without.

FINALLY put to rest: I tried to fab another sunroof delete last weekend, but just didn't turnout for me (rippled up after fastened down). I have since re-installed the oem sunroof a second time. The good news is the roof vent is 100% finished, but here's a pic of what I wanted... it's would have been about 15 lbs savings off the top &the scoop would vent further forward which is preferable.

Because the roof vent is very small it wont be enough airflow and I started thinking the rear quarters could use "snap vents" from the aviation industry.

Finally the venting is finished & I will have something that doesn't disrupt the air TOO much and will still look nice, IMHO.

SKID PLATE.

Decided to go lightweight. Very lightweight and less protection. This should REALLY help reduce turbulence which will help keep the car planted under all driving conditions. And just help efficiency and reduce drag & make the world a better place. WOOHOO!!

Using a home-made "T-dolly" to shrink and roll the edges.

Some all seasons for the next 600km rally not including the 700 kms road driving before & after.

Skid plate is up:
