Do you remember our previous discussion in of the PTS 'Green' 991 gt3
that showed up at the IMSA Watkins Glen race last summer & we were
wondering where it came from & who owns it?
Well, it showed up last weekend at Laguna Seca for the IMSA race
(as expected). It was there to 'show off' the Porsche brand & give
a few lucky passengers some thrilling e-rides at speed on the track
in-between the day's races!
*
So I waited for the driver to return to his parking place in the paddock
to ask him a few questions about this particular PTS gt3. And, as Paul
Harvey used to say, here is the rest of the story!
*
The car belongs to PCNA, apparently from day one! It's Vin #...9248.
My 'Signal Green' gt3 is ...9243. So both are part of the 10 late
allocation '15 PTS gt3's built in March 2015 & they likely met each
other going down together on the assembly line at Werk II in
Zuffenhausen!
I didn't have to ask about the color...trust me when I tell you it's
'Signal Green' and not 'Viper Green'. The specs are exactly
like the rest of them (not modified with PCCB's). So just like mine,
including leather-covered backs on the four-way Sport Plus seats!
*
As of that date & time, it had 1537 miles on the odometer. And
I might add, all of them were carefully driven...at warp speed on
some of America's most challenging & dangerous tracks! And at
the 9000 RPM red line even though it has yet to reach completion
of the recommended 2000 miles engine break-in period!
*
The car is there because Porsche is an official IMSA sponsor & thus
allowed to 'advertise' one of its model along with other manufacturers
& organizations that are IMSA's 'partners'!
*
The driver of the gt3 last weekend was professional racer &
driving instructor James Gue. He is employed by 'Porsche
Sport Driving School' at the Barber Motorsports Park near
Birmingham, Alabama. And he also coaches some drivers
participating in the IMSA races, so he is frequently available
at the races to provide rides on this particular PTS gt3!
I previously met James when I attended the 918 test drives at
The Thermal (near Chino, CA) back in November of 2013! He
was one of our driving instructors at that event!
And we met again at a follow-up 918 driving event a Sonoma
Raceway (Sears Point) in June of 2014!
*
James mentioned in passing that he believes PCNA will retire the
'Signal Green' gt3 from the IMSA show circuit & shortly replace it
with a gt4! So all of you that might be interested in a leisurely
driven PTS gt3, with low miles & barely broken-in, please contact
PCNA in Atlanta with your $ bids!
Thanks for the info. I saw that car up close at the LB GP
(Indy car, IMSA, and world challenge) and was wondering
about it. Questions answered!

referred to the admission media as "tickets", as they were often
sold in "ticket books". This gave rise to the term "E ticket". Disney
has continued to informally call its best attractions "E tickets", even
those opened after the coupon system was discontinued, such as
Splash Mountain, Indiana Jones Adventure, The Twilight Zone Tower
of Terror, and Soarin' Over California. "E ticket" has survived the
discontinuation of coupon admission at Disney theme parks and
has transcended into the lexicon of popular culture."
How many late allocation 2015 'Signal Green' .1 991 gt3s were really built?
Here is another mystery we need to solve. How many late 2015
allocations 'Signal Green' .1 991 gt3s were actually built for the
US market?
We were initially told that only 10 of each of the three colors
were built on this limited PTS gt3 production. So 10 'Signal
Green' '15 gt3's in total for the US market. And we reported
as early as in May 2015 the following information we had
gathered re: actual vin #'s:
But if we start listing them now by Vin #, something peculiar is
detected. The sequence of Vin #'s we have suggest at least 14 PTS
'Signal Green' gt3's were built!
These are known 'Signal Green' gt3s in this series but not sure of Vin #:
1) 92**.........P of Bellevue............ WA........Unknown
2) 92**.........P of San Diego...........CA........Rennlister George
3) 92**.........Momentum................TX........Rennlister EricHai
That leaves 4 Vin #'s unaccounted for!
*** I am contacting people I know at each of those dealerships,
and in on case a known owner, to see if I can get the Vin #s
of the Bellevue, San Diego & Momentum 'Signal Green' gt3s.
I will report back as soon as we track these numbers down.
If any of you have any knowledge of other 'Signal Green' gt3's
that fall within these Vin # parameters, please pm or email me.

For the historical record, these are photos taken of some of
these 'Signal Green' gt3s when they arrived at their dealers.
Or, in the case of Road Scholars, when listed for re-sale!

The biggest questions regarding all of these late '15 PTS gt3
allocations to US dealers still remains unanswered!
1) Why were these PTS gt3's built when PAG announced a
moratorium on all PTS production for the balance of model
year 2015 in the fall of 2014?
2) Why were these three colors selected? And who specced
these cars? 'Porsche Exclusive' at PCNA & PAG insist they
were not consulted.
3) How were the US dealers chosen to received this 'gift'
allocation of a very valuable commodity - a PTS gt3!
We are still on the case...and will not 'rest' until we find
the answers to all of these questions. So stay tune.

Reason: Add Rennlister Racingutoo as the original owner of Vin # 9244

9244 checking in! Good talking with you at Rennsport Btw....
Another located at Blue Grass Porsche in Louisville. Took the picture a week ago and will have to get VIN when I am in there next week. If still there. The SA said the color was 'green'.

If that is "green" than that is a different color vs signal. Green is RS green from the 07/08 GT3RS
