Great choice! I didn't know it when I bought my '99 but you have purchased one of the best 911's there is. You still have all of the feel and drivability of the 993 (no PSM, mechanical throttle linkage) but with the higher HP of the 996.

FYI, the 18's were an optional upgrade on the '99.

Aside from having to use a borescope every time you fill up with gas, right?

You will probably want to change out fluids to establish your maintenance baseline if you don't have good records with the car, but definitely get out there and enjoy it! You have the best driving experience for the money now, and you should drive it every chance you get.

You are catching on fast. I see a bright future ahead, mostly involving car parts scattered everywhere.

Lol! I try not to use a borescope in public. I think you can get arrested for that.

I hope you're right. This car is the only watercooled 911 I've driven (and
a very brief drive at that) so I don't have a reference.

My previous attempt at buying a 911 was more than twenty years ago
and I drove a few SCs and a few mid 80's carrera. I ended up
really liking a one owner '69 911S. Still kicking myself for letting a few worn rubber suspension bushings prevented me from buying it.

That's what we call a negotiating point! I also firmly believe that a car isn't 'yours' until it gets some sweat and blood out of you.
