So does this mean that your car could've been a flood victim as well?

Does this guy have any recourse to bring it back to the dealer or have them pay for the repairs?

Somewhere I recall the OP found the car at the first shop with the top down. Why? Who knows but maybe the "mechanic" let it get rained on/in.

That new mechanic is a bad ***. He went simple first and likely found the culprit. It pains me to see you having to go through this nonsense. I hope the cable is indeed the fix. In the mean time I'd be getting as much money from the previous mechanic as I could. You paid him to disassemble something he knew nothing about.

Well, not exactly, but Macster said in post #17 that it's probably just something like an electrical issue rather than a blown transmission. . .
