I want to replace my door seal as well... the bottom is badly worn from my clumsy feet dragging across it over the years. How hard is it to remove the old seal?
I am also thinking to replace the seal around the passenger door - again worn/torn from passengers closing the door holding the top of the window frame.
Where did you get the seal - Pelican?
Sorry for the crappy pictures.
Thanks
Did the door seal today. The old one came out with some tugging... not much though. There is glue residue... see the pics. I did my best to clean it off with some goo gone and a final wipe with lacquer thinner to be sure the surface was clean to accept the new glue. Spent maybe 30 minutes cleaning the glue off. Not too bad at all.
Used 3M Black Super Weatherstrip adhesive. Pushed the new seal in place starting on the upper right corner where the seal is formed at a right angle. Went in easily - except there is a stiff portion of the seal at the bottom front that is more difficult to seat. Added a little extra glue there and shut the door. It is now drying in the very hot garage. Got up to near 100 degrees here today.
Thanks for the help from the various posts here...
FYI... the door seals from the 964/911 coupe will fit a 993. Current Pelican price for aftermarket is $53.50 each with discount dealer price for OE at $108 each.
While the 993 seals (a 964 part # that was not used on the 964?) are about $227 each for OE from a discount dealer.
The difference between the seals is that the 993 seal is flat and smooth where the 911 seal is round and ribbed. This makes the 993 seals have a left or right fitment where the round 911 seal fits either side. With the 911 seal the door needs a little more effort to close because you have to compress the thicker seal.
I have had a 911 seal on the drivers side for a year or 2 with no leaks or wind noise. I thought I was buying a 993 seal from a rennlister until I got the package with the 911 part # on it, but it was only $40 so OK with me either way. Part # for the 911 seal is 911 531 095 03.
I am not saying to use the incorrect part for your car but for a little over $100 you can do both sides with the "wrong" seals or over $500 for the right seals.
great tip
funny how small changes by Porsche can equate to $$$
Yes, the guys in Oregon. Send an email to BobMcCarthy@sunsetimports.com, he responds quick. One of the cheapest places for Porsche parts anywhere - and they are a dealer.

The seal from the Carrera SC or later 84- 88 Carrera is a good source for replacing just the door seal section that gets worn when feet pass over the door threshold. Last time I purchased one a few years back it was $39. Seems to be a no-brainer fix and there is plenty of material for future use or on the other door.
Thought I would give this thread a bump and keep Al's (Cemoto's) good karma rolling.
The left door seal on my arctic silver C2S, in otherwise good condition, had the typical tears/fraying along the bottom from PO's dragging themselves in and out of the car... After recently installing stainless door sills (thank you Keith at Prestige Parts UK), it was time to replace the old seals.
I considered patching with a 964 seal, but wanted clean and seamless solution. Thankfully Pelican Parts offers an alternative to the genuine Porsche seal which they sell for $607.50, and for just $142.25 you can purchase an OEM replacement. http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/...&I1.x=0&I1.y=0
This is a very easy install, but removing the old glue with goo gone took over an hour. Still I was very pleased to get all the old glue up down to the shining paint, and may just leave the new seal in place without the glue. It's a perfect fit, and doesn't appear to be going anywhere.
If you've read this far down and you are interested in simply patching your left seal, like Al (who replaced his seal and graciously gave away the used one for patching) I will ship my old seal free to the first RL member in CONUS that PM's me. Now it's time for a beer!
Old door seal was frayed and torn
Pulled the door seal off and removed the glue with Goo Gone
Happy with new OEM (but not genuine Porsche) door seal from Pelican for $142.25
Old genuine Porsche door seal will make a nice few patches for someone...
