Excellent work G!
I had my Bumperette cutouts professionally filled so I am no customer, but this is a great option for those that want the delete look, but still reversible!

Thanks, it became a bit of an obsession for the best part of a year on and off. A friend of mine helped me with reproducing the initial shape of the piece in 3D and then it's just trying to find a version that fits and yet is slightly adjustable to account for the lack of tolerances initiated when the holes were originally cut.

Who is in Raleigh and going to be around on Saturday morning as early as you like?

I need to test the parts I get back from the fabricators. Hopefully, these will fit a few different cars and then we are good to go. What this means is that by mid-next week I will open the books and take orders. I'll hold the order until I have at least 50 units as the manufacturer deals with 50+, then as soon as orders dip above that number, I'll order that amount. I don't want to wait a month to squeeze out a few more units. As soon as they arrive back from the manufacturer, I will arrange for them to be packaged and shipped out.

Potentially, if there is demand for another 50, I can get the guy to make another batch. If there is only demand for half that then I will talk to him about cost for smaller orders.

Sooooo....

The side ridge is impossible to get into the bumper with the base in place. I'm thinking of leaving them on though because, if you want to remove the base and glue these in place, then you would use them.

For this fitting, I removed both side ridges but left the top ridge on each side of the pieces. Removing the edges was easy, I used a utility knife and then just sanded it down a bit to smooth it out a bit even though you can't see it when installed.

My mounting bolts have been slightly shortened but I don't know if that's necessary or not, it was done previously because the bolt was touching the back of the Euro light and deflecting it outwards.

The close-ups pictures you can see the delineation for the piece BUT this is extremely magnified and once painted I just can't see it being that much of an issue.

I coat of primer and some paint and clearcoat will push the front edge out a bit. Like I've said, its a 90% solution.

What's the preference? Leave the side ridges on or take them off?

Very nice work! I would imagine leaving the side ridges would allow each individual install an option of fitting them tightly and shaping the edges just right.

So you are saying that the side ridges will not work with using the bolt in design? If that's the case, I say loose the side ridges.

I think I'll need a general consensus on this one. One for and one against could leave us in limbo forever.

The pros with the ridge are......

1. If you want to cut off the base for the glued in solution then you can.
2. They are easily removed.
3. Everybody is going to have to do a little custom modification anyway.

Cons...

1. You may have to remove them....which takes seconds.

I would lean towards keeping them but it's easily achieved if people decide to scupper them.

I've changed my mind, then. Leave them if they are that easy to cut & shape.

Thanks for doing this.

Tough call. Based on your poll results 95% of the installers would be cutting these ridges off, but it fills the void for the other 5% (three users)....

Yus, but maybe some cars will be able to install with them only shaved down marginally. I'm leaning towards the safest option of leaving them. You'll have to sand and prime and paint anyway, a little trimming isn't going to hurt the people that are interested in this mod.
