Default Wheel repair in montreal

My wife drove over something on the 20 west last night and blew her rear tire and put a nice flat ding on the inside of the alloy wheel. It is an OEM alloy wheel on her 2010 VW Golf wagon that is like new.

I threw on the winter wheels and tires this morning and now I am debating if it makes sense to get the wheel fixed or just look for a nice used one.

Any suggestions for wheel repair in Montreal. I would take the wheel down and get an opinion.

thanks

Mark

Mark, P.Jacques pretty much rules the market in Montreal. However, I find that their quality has come down quite a bit in the last few years.

Case in point, my Cayenne's 21" Sport rim had an altercation with a nasty pothole this summer. They straightened the rim but did a terrible job on painting while overspraying the inner portion of the rim. This needed a good 1/2 hour of removal using a clay block and lubricant.

thanks for the info.

I wouldn't think there would be any painting involved since the damage seems confined to the inside of the wheel. I will check them out.

Any guess on the cost? Looking around I think I could probably find a decent used one for around $200 delivered.

Prices range at about $125-$150 for a standard repair. Anytime they use their large rubber roller to straighten the wheel, there is paint scuffing involved which prompts them to "touch-up" this area with spray paint. Since most Porsche rims have heavy offsets, damage is usually visible on the inner side. I'm not too sure about VW rims though.

I've used pjacques for a 3 piece wheel. Turn around time was long and they removed too much material off the lip. Exact roues beat pjacques on price, turnaround time and quality of work.
