AOS Motorsport or custom
Hi guys, runing my cayman for a while now with just AOS issues.
Keeping the oil mid level and avoiding sharp corner on 5000+ rpm was solving temporary the problem, but i drove at Palmer Motorsport Park this friday.
A lot and a lot of 1,4G corners.... even doing my tricks, those corners are so pushing the limits of my oil that i smoked again
which means last thing to upgrade is AOS.
BUT the AOS motorsport is 'in my opinion, annoyingly costly for what it is but solve the problem, i had the proof with another friends who has it.
Is someone found a trick or costimized his own???
I'm in a hurry to find a permanent solution yet affordable
already have Mantis deep sump with baflles, etc..

There is no real cheap way around it.. Such a stupid setup IMO. The AO/S uses the neg pressure and a baffled interior of the canister . 986/87 Specific AO/S is stupid expensive, you can modify the 996 unit to fit 986/87 but requires a decent amount of work but it's half the price...
997 has a much different AO/S setup

996 or 986/987?

No idea but after you have done a few its pretty simple. You need to re work some lines, and either remove or cut the air pump bracket on later models. You can't code out the air pump CEL with durametric or from what ive found. I guess you can try to wire in a resistor or relocate the pump.
As I said the specific unit for 986/87 bolts right in with the correct lines. Even on early 996s fitment is very very tight. The Motorsport ao/s is roughly 2.5x the size

I am planning to do the 987 Cayman motorsport AOS myself. Are there other parts I need to fit it? I read on some DIY that I need 2 separate hoses connecting to cyclinder 4?
Looking for an answer before I order the parts.
Thanks,
