Cheap classic insurance in the UK?
Hi Guys,
Now that my car has slipped past the ten year barrier I'm thinking of cheaper "near classic" insurance. I used to have this on my old 3.2 and it was significantly cheaper. Does anyone have experience of this or can you point me in the right direction? Anyone else that's cheap would be good to know about as well. I'm currently quoted £702/£845 for fully protected (standard/modified) by Privelege.
Cheers,
David

I'm with AON. Their classic section.
Also I am with or have used for my 3.2 carrera,
Performance Marque
Pert Insurance
Keep away from mayfair insurance, well away, they turned round and cancelled my policy as they made a error. They made up excuses.

Thanks Nathan,
I'll ask AON for a quote. Is it my imagination or does it take agaes to get a quote nowadays. Given that the insuarance firms swap notes why can they not give you a file reference to give prospective new insurers that had all the info required for a quote?

Hi Rob,
I haven't heard of them but I'll give them a go - that's very good. Do they advertise in Total911 or do you have a contact number?

Thanks Rob, that sounds a good quote if it includes trackday cover.
What is the excess on a trackday with your cover ?
Is this the company ?

Thanks Phelix, I'll give them a go.
Currently I am seeing Privelege being the best normal insurance and AON and one of the ones out of 911 World were about 650ish for classic though the one whose name I cannot recall included agreed valuation, my wife (who had an accident this year when she got driven off the road by a gravel lorry (who didn't stop)) and international breakdown cover. So do I just renew or do I get into the whole classic and not looking after the no claims bonus thing? I'm not sure. There is about £150 up for grabs (classic is cheaper) and I can get agreed valuation (useful if it is stolen/ badly damaged) but I'm wondering about how to keep my no claims alive?
Cheers,
David

If you don't have a car to appy it to I think your no claims bonus stays alive for 2 years.
Having said that, try talking to the classic insurers who don't *require* you to transfer your NCB; they may *allow* you to do so and thereby keep it current.
