Florida. Flat and tropical and as a result we don't have too many twisties and elevation changes. As another pcar lover who needs his fix, does anybody know any great driving roads in Florida? Thanks in advance and I look forwards to Rennlist 2016!
Reviving another old thread. I'm pretty familiar with central Fla having grown up there. There are actually some decent roads because of all the lakes and roads following the shorelines, although speed limits are slow in the residential areas. Here's something I drew up with some of the better stuff going N to S, The interface went a little haywire east of Astatula but shouldn't be hard to figure out. Also it goes by Alex Job's race shop, I'm sure he wouldn't mind visitors if he's around (I'd call ahead, he has a nice operation). Granted it's not the mountains but is some of the better stuff on the peninsula.
Again, there are some good driving roads in Florida, you just have to know where they are. In the 70's I put together a few rallies for PCA events and could string together 3 or 4 days worth of fun backroads now but i'll leave it to the armchair experts to find them because after all, they're experts : )
I first discovered the joys of the perimeter Road at FLL airport when I was in High School, driving a 4-banger Mercury Capri. The road has changed a bit, but it still makes me smile.
AIA, is the best direct option, you could meander around by going west on 16 which will bring you into the crowded parts of jacksonville, or you could take take the bridge to green cove springs and head north via the new first coast freeway, then west on 90 or I10 to 301N then take 200 which will get you back to amelia islnd
