Default How the heck do I...

...add a picture to my signature space? I have tried to upload many photo sizes, from 500x400 down to miniscule - no luck. I've tried the upload after deleting my text bits - no luck. If anyone has had success with this venture I'd love to know how it was done...

Where in the process are you guys having trouble? The pic upload, or including the image in your sig? I know there's a character count limitation for the sig, and size limitation for pic uploads in general, but it works just like when you include an image in a post.

I'm not sure where the glitch is - I'm trying to upload an image that's only 150x100, and it won't go even after deleting all my text...?

The order is:

1) upload the picture file
2) save the url
3) in your sig you use the image tag and insert your url saved in 2

Not clear if that's what you're doing based on your description?

best off uploading your pic to a hosting site like photobucket

then cut and paste the image tag into the edit signature in user cp

Hehehehehe, and the Official Jack Olsen Photo Thread comes to Rennlist!

See, out of respect for Jack about a year ago, I refrained from putting a sig pic in. He, uh, has issues with them.

How's BBII doing Jack?

Jack: Gotta love it!

Troy: I've tried:
1. Go to Option #2
2. Upload image
3. Click on save signature
Then I get a "please note" box that says "unable to save image..."

That's nice of you, Fred. I'm not against them wholeheartedly (at least, not on Rennlist), but it's a shame that the software lets me put something that big on the screen that will repeat every single time I post on the BBS. Especially when I'm checking in on my phone, the repeated pictures get kind of old.

But Pete, all you need to do is get the picture 'hosted' by something like photobucket, and then put it in the signature with {img} on one side of the url address text and {/img} on the other -- except that you put in squared brackets '[' instead of the curly ones (if I typed them in the example, the BBS would read them as code and some of my sentence would disappear).

To get around the character limit, copy the link and go to www.tinyurl.com , a site that will convert the long link to one that's very short (that photo is now http://tinyurl.com/3g4hy7 ) so that you don't use up all of your characters.

I wouldn't use the Rennlist-provided signature image implanter. But that's mostly because I never have.

And since I'm going to take the big picture out of my signature, now, I'll paste in the code for it, so you can see how it types out. I'll substitute the squiggly bracket for the squared one you'd actually use.

Try not using option 1 or option 2. I uploaded the pic separately, using the upload photo function, saved the url, then just embedded it in the sig text using the [img] tags (basically the same thing I'm doing to embed the screenshot of my sig). Looks like this:
