Bitmaps in Avatar - Pictures in Signature
Can someone explain how to get a *bmp picture/file in an avatar?
What about a picture in a signature?
I need the "Computer 101" explanation/version. I've tried and don't see how it works. I've tried to download the pictures to Rennlist, but always get the "too big" message. Even if I was successful, I don't know how to get further than that. Someone obviously knows, because there are plenty bitmaps in avatars and pictures in signatures out there!
Thanks.
David

OK, but I'm still confused on how to get a picture in the signature.
As for using a bitmap in the avatar, I've seen some that have "moving" pictures in theirs and one that I came across was a *bmp file. Just wondering how THAT is done (????)
Thanks.

David:
.gif's are smaller than jpegs while .bmp's are huge in comparison. The ones that move are usually another file type called "animated .gif's" (no surprise there).
To get a picture in your signature you need to upload it to a picture server service or the upload area of Rennlist and reference the location of the picture in your signature.

Thanks Marc,
I'll try again. BTW, where did this move to? Sorry if I put it in the wrong forum, but I thought "General" might be the catch-all forum; obviously not. I've previously just mainly looked and posted on the 928 Forum.
Thanks for the info.

Hi David,
I moved it to the "Rennlist Member Help" forum (while you are reading this thread, look up at the second line below the Rennlist logo that says:
"Rennlist Discussion Forums > Rennlist Member Forums > Rennlist Member Help.... "
that line is like a directory tree structure that tells you where you are.
"General Porsche Discussion" is more for discussion about Porsches in general without regard to model or for models not covered by other specific forums. For member questions like the one you posted, you'd get better help here.
No worries...........Marc
