I like the new proposal. Makes sense, just like how it should be in our homes as well. Take it out when you need it, fold it up and store away when not in use. Maximize space usage, less clutter.

to be honest, I have rennlist bookmarked to open without the menu on the side.
So moving it to the top or leaving it on the side wont affect me. But I personally hate it on the side.

I am so used to the existing site, I may be shooting myself in the foot. However, I voted for the suggested new layout. It would definately be more intuitive to new users.
The more Porsche enthusiasts gather at Rennlist (and stay) the merrier... IMHO

I never use the menus either - just go straight to the 964 forum. Side menus are a real waste of screen space and top menus overcome this problem.

bullseye. i can't stand the real estate that left hand frame wastes. sometimes the only reason i have to scroll to the right is because that frame eats up useful space.

I go straight to 928. And when I want to navigate ewlsewhere I look at the top for classifieds, for sale etc. Left menus are a waste of screen real estate

If you must change it, on top I suppose(save screen space). Why not just give option to hide on left? If you do take the menu away from the left and place it into a drop down mode on the top DO NOT REPLACE SPACE WITH SOMETHING ELSE, LET THE THREAD TAKE UP NEW SPACE. I don't see how you guys are saying you never see it, it is ALWAYS on my screen; no matter where I go on this site. I have a large screen on my PC so I don't need the space, I actually hadn't even noticed it took up any space or never went away till just now...

I don't even use the menus at all, just go directly to the forums listing, much faster and no javascript menus to worry about.
