Importing our 996 from US to France
Wife an I are thinking of retiring in France within the next couple of years and
would like to take our beloved 01 996 with us. We both have French citizenship,
if that helps. As anyone done this? What are the pitfalls if any? Any other
experiences with this type of move, or advise to share?

Dear Steve,
I'm gonna import a porsche from the USA at the end of this year to the Netherlands(near France).
I will post my pitfalls on this forum.
Right now the last thing I'm searching a company to transport the car to the place where it gets shipped to Europe.
Maybe we can help each other out, hence you are in the States and I'm in Europe.

We imported 2 cars and 4 motorcycles whan we moved here to retire last year. The Porsche, I bought here. It's really straightforward (but laden with typical French "red tape") - you would be wise to bring your Porsche given the massive differences in prices here versus the USA. Not sure the position on import taxes from outside the EU though.

I am also going to be importing my US Spec 928 to the Netherlands, haven't quite decided the timing. Probably early 2010. Please do post what you learn and I will do the same. Where are you in The Netherlands?
