Default -99 996 at 82000 kilometers? Worth it?

Hi everyone,

I've been surfing this forum for a while and I decided to post a thread regarding a 996 that I have been thinking of buying.

First of all the service history of this car is great, it is imported from Germany served at Porsche all years, then imported to Sweden where I am now and served at Porsche here too. The only exception is that the most recent service was done at the dealer where it is now.

The reason why I'm writing is that since it has gone 80,000 kilometers the "big" service has been done and the next service is at 100,000 kilometers. But when reading this forum I get a little bit scared because of the RMS error in the 996.
Also, is there any kind of guarantee from Porsche since it is 10 years old? How much can I expect to pay if the engine breaks down? Note that I do not intend to drive it on a racetrack but to use it as a fun car, driving it about 5000 kilometers per year and not during the winter.

A little bit about the equipment:
PCM (gps), Leather, 18inch rims, sunroof etc.

So what do you think, the car is ~30,000€/300,000 SEK
Is it worth the shot? The car on the picture is the car that I intend to buy.

Don't worry about RMS failure, with 80K on the clock and 10 years old that would have failed by now and have been fixed. Test drive it over to the Porsche center where it was last serviced and ask about a Porsche garantee. We bought our 996 (used) from Porsche Zenrtum Frankfurt and it costs us 1200 Euro/year to keep it under factory warranty (the 1200 Euro includes a yearly 111 point check of the automobile).

I have 82.000 km on my 996 C2. No RMS leaks (RMS seal is original - never been changed). The car had 60.000 km when I got it. The only thing that I had to replace was the coolant expansion tank. It started to leak. Typical problem with the -99 model Carreras.

The car has been very trouble free. I think - with todays 996 prices - it is very great value for money.

I guess if you want to go the safer way you should think about Nissan 350Z. Great handilng, good performance, great reliability.
