yeah CT guy had no clue and pointed me to a battery that only met electrical requirments from his useless screen , I researched my own and went back
I saw a couple there Ronnie but it was 7.5 inches tall and was 160.00 . i'm sure I can do a lot better, CT is just not the "go to" place anymore for this stuff sadly.
( the interstate one was 136 and was a batter fit " )

..and we are back on the road ... here is my summary of how it went down

Canadian tire Eliminator 179.99 (730 cca )
Canadian Tire Motor Master 159.99
Wallmart Ever Start 142.77 (730 cca )
Costco Kirkland H-6 124.99 ( 730 cca )
Interstate MTP-91 136.95 ( and that's IF he could have sourced me one ) ( 700 cca) <-- my current one that lasted 11 years )
Interstate MTP-48 203.95 ( 730 cca )

... and the winner is ......

My local Wrecker that had an interstate MTP-48 labeled October 2013 that tested at 100% for a grand total of 25.00 with a 4 month warranty ! .. sold ....

I just need to get a vent kit for it.

I hope this helps someone in the future.

My winter beater Audi needed a battery and I was too cheap to spend 125$ for a new one. So I phone the scrapyard I deal with often and they sold me a pretty much new VAG Oem battery from a whatever Audi for 35$ delivered. Actually come to think of it my classic E34 has an AGM battery that was testing no good in a 2014 5er but works great in my car. C4S has a slow, slow crank will end up having to change the cables in the engine bay

CT has a program that recommends specific battery for individual models. Thought all Porsche models were listed? Mine was there. Perfect fit with breather. 5 year full, not amortized, replacement warranty.

The two the guy looked up for mine did not even have the lower lip for the battery hold down. Fortunately I know what I need so did not need his advice. I am a huge ct fan but in this case just did not find it good value.

I have them. In 11 years never needed. So leave them in the garage. I'm not hauling something around I never use. Well, except the spare tire that is from 1978 😉

Hi Clive, I am late to the game, you have already bought a battery. I have a Kirkland from Costco, I can go to the garage and tell you what size if of interest. Thing is, I am so ....whatever you want to call me, the battery is simply not tied up to the chassis, it simply stays in place due to its weight and the two cables that connect it. I had it like this for at least 5 or 6 years, no issues. I do not track the car but all my outings are spirited drives especially in curves, all good. You are always welcome to drop by my place in Burlington to see it as I never seem to make it to the Saturday get together (shame on me of course)

George
