The new rules are in, just in time before the car show season starts.

There are laws of general application that already address some of the new rules, i.e., trespassing. But as Boman indicated, hard to enforce most laws. If a drone flew over my house, that is trespassing, but I'm not allowed to use my AR-15 to shoot it out of the sky. As much as I would love to!!
I have a drone but do not use it in the city. Handy for off-roading in the desert for in stance in the US but you need a licence for that too these days. Looks like 100% of Toronto is off limits.
This will not make much difference to me really. Most of the flying I do is literally in remote areas (in the twists), so I doubt I'll have anything to worry about when these come into effect.
I get it that for those who use these things to be a nuisance in big crowds, at the beach or a ski hill, or interfere with an emergency situation, should definitely have the book thrown at them. And there need to be clear laws in order to do that... But, it will be very hard to catch an operator since you can fly a drone from anywhere and from quite a distance...Plus they're just getting smaller and smaller (eg; DJI Mavic)

Hmm No flying within 75 m of building, people, animals, boats and Cars?
Why don't they just say - no drones, anywhere, ever! So you's have to be 75 m away from anyone before you took off or landed, so basically stood in a field by yourself. Better make sure there are no birds flying around or you could be breaking the law - seems pretty silly to me. Basically if someone complains we can stop you flying almost anywhere.......

Well folks, when it comes to airports, it was long overdue. Don't really care about the rest but no one has any business of flying drones anywhere near an airport. And I think $3,000 is way too lenient
