Update:

First and foremost, I would like to thank everybody in this thread and the Canadian Rennlist forum for their knowledge and advice. Without you, I would not be empowered to make informed decisions and remain completely lost in this big move.

I have officially accepted the offer from the company today and will be relocating late March/early-to-mid April. I hope to be able to meet you folks some day.

No Porsche in the immediate future, especially after the relocate, but I foresee one again in my future.

Might be late to the party, but one thing to add re used card: If you buy a vehicle privately, you also need to pay HST at the ministry when transferring the ownership to your name. HST is calculated on the wholesale cost of the vehicle, or the price you paid - whichever is higher... read between the lines and you might be able to save some money.

With insurance, the premiums are also calculated by the postal code you live in. You may end up paying more if you have a downtown Toronto address...

Good luck, congrats and welcome!

I really like the idea of these guys to do both, no mechanical repair side of the business so less likely to use the certification as method to drive mechanical work $$.

Good luck with your search, I just purchased a used GTS and know of an S from an enthusiast who is selling fully certified and e-tested. I can PM you the contact info if you like.
Bump from the dead, but just wanted to follow-up and say thanks for this recommendation. I went to the Dekra facility in Etobicoke on Dundas, and the shop manager there was great.

You were right about them - There's no no mechanical repair or upsell from these guys. At most, they asked if I was interested in storing my winter tires. For the space savings, time, and cost - why the heck not?

Ottawa insurance

2008 Cayenne = $1000
1999 911 = $900

Can't imagine paying $2500 for a car with a clean record

Near-one-year thread bump.

After living through my first Toronto winter, I am glad I did not bring the 996 over. I think it would have been destroyed by all the salt. You Ontarians sure know how to salt your roads.

I'm still on the hunt for a Porsche, but after seeing the 2017 Audi A4 yesterday, it's going to be a tough decision.

ok, but you can't compare an A4 to a Porsche.

There's a 2005 Porsche 997 @ Pfaff Porsche. Looks like a US import and an 04 996 C4S which had a hefty $19K repair bill and sitting there for quite some time. Does anybody know this car or have seen it?

Also, any leads on a sales rep at Pfaff?
