How much is a rolling 996 or 997 worth?
If someone owns a 996 or 997 in Canada and say the IMS goes and the engine is blown. How much could they potentially get for their car at this point?
Where would you go to sell such a thing?
In the States I'm sure there are more options.

I bought my 996 from the US with a non running engine for $5000 almost 4 years ago and at that time, the CDN was almost at par. Having said that, it all depends on the mileage and condition of the car and what options it has. Keep in mind that if the engine is not running then the transmission should be considered as being broken too since it can't be tested. My rough guess for an average condition car would be that a 996 is worth around $5-$7K and a 997 not more than $10K.
Can sell it here, Kijiji, Ebay...pretty much anywhere cars are advertised.

A 997 for 10k means that you can buy it + engine for 15-20K and you have a 30K 997?
If the engine was blown due to IMS the transmission wouldn't be effected, but I guess what your saying is you have no idea to validate that.

Yes, if you can't validate it then best is to assume it as non functional or you are taking a gamble. Usually a non running car is worth a lot less than just then cost of the repair. Otherwise what's the insensitive to buy it over one that has no issues.
Are you 100℅ sure it's the intemediate shaft bearing that failed?

I had a 996 C4s with a seized engine. Sold about three years ago for $18k CAD
If the roller was running and on the road just recently, and you have evidence that the engine just recently blew, then I would say the car is worth about $15-20k CAD less that a running version.
If it is a roller from an auction or wreckers, I probably wouldn't touch it.

I don't think it's hard to sell a roller, all depends on the price. Lots of people (like me) see this as a fun project opportunity. Sourcing a good engine at a reasonable price is maybe more of a challenge.
