No kidding. That's what gets me about it...it's just so contrived. It's not the most power they can make with the technology right now it's part of a multi-year plan of product improvements, makeovers and new models.

Good business but no soul. Give me all you can give now!!!! And then worry about the next model...

the reason no one is surprised the somewhat-current but old/special 993/996/997 models are worth more than the new stuff...the experience and soul....

From what i have heard there will not be a 991 GT2. That being said if they installed 2 turbos in the GT3RS, bumped the hp over 600, the prancing horses and others would look great in the rear view mirror.

I thought they said they weren't going to make a GT2 because the overall performance gain wouldn't worth it in comparison to what you could get out of the other high end models? (Same reason there's no Corvette ZR-1)

The 991, particularly the TT, is no longer a sports car. Its now a GT car.
id argue the tt has been a gt car since the 993.

I heard the 991 GT2 was in the works, but the GT3 motor issue
Replacement displaced those plans.

Porsche never maximizes power...they want reliability.

I meant it's not even the most they could make while preserving reliability. I'm no engineer but 20-hp on the nose increase every X years is just so painfully contrived it hurts. Now it's that much "easier" with turbos to program.

It's just not cricket!

If they maximize the power output of the new engine... what will they do for the next model? Porsche is smart and making it easy to sell a constant stream of upgrades.

If they move the engine a little forward, they should be able to squeeze a V8 into the next iteration. At that point 700 hp is attainable, aka Mclaren.....
