I dont, many fiends do. Everyone rolling on Summit 800's these days and it seems everyone gets a custom wrap too.
Most guys here head out to Valemount or north to McBride.
That **** up there is crazy.....racing cars is safer imop...

A friend went sledding with a group last year and drove almost 2000k up to James Bay and back in -20 temps. I don't get that.

Until not that long ago all the competitive dirt bikes were all 2 stroke.....then all of a sudden the lightweight 4 stroke engines took over the field. Same thing is happening with the snowmobiles right now. Wait a bit and you'll see. Remember when all the GP bikes were 2 strokes (I had an RZ500)? The 4 strokes made them go the way of the Dodo bird too.

Dude, its the same fuucken shiit! Lubrication comes from the oil mixed with the fuel. They wear out like nothing. Worst thing you can do to a 2 stroke is to close the throttle. Closed throttle=no fuel and no lubrication. Want to make them last a little longer? Don't close the throttle all the way unless you have to. Only good thing i can think of regarding four stroke snowmobiles is the fact you don't need to use expensive synthetic two stroke oil to keep your power valves clean and super unleaded fuel ...
If you want to ride something that sounds like a lawn tractor and needs a crane to lift out if you get stuck in deep snow, then a four stroke is for you. I agree they make for a nice touring sled which has a large market and followers, but it's not for me yet.
I ride int he St Michel des Saints / St Zenon area so i see all kinds ...

Direct injection 2 stroke is advancing pretty quickly and works very well. It will be a long time before you see the guys that want great trail handling move away from 2 strokes. Are they blowing up? Yes, but you need to pay to play. In this class a lot of guys sell them after the engine warranty runs out. Anyone that wants to get into this sport needs to know it is an expensive one. I'm just happy it does cross over with my track time or I'd be broke.
The only way to make a 4 stroke pig go fast is to put a turbo or supercharger on it. Ya the big kittie is the fastest sled on the market after some upgrades, but it needs 200+ HP to move it's fat ***. Yami is putting power steering on them. Lipstick on a pig!
Everything 1965356 I agree with and not because it's his thread.

Sounds like a lawn tractor?!?!? Are you shating me? Sounds exact like the R1 bike with aftermarket pipes. If that's a lawn tractor then I want THAT lawn tractor for my back yard.

Imo,
I'll admit i'd take a $15,000 green Turbo lawn tractor if i could afford it ... lol ...
Yes i've occasionally cooked my ZR's due to lean near meltdown jetting ,yes i love the smell of expensive Klotz synthetic race oil,yes i like to pull start a high compression 900 twin in -35 C mornings and yes i still like to jump and do wheelies with my sled, eventually when i get much older i'll consider a lawn tractor with electric start and saddlebags
No harm intended here to four strokers !!!
Cheers
