Great opportunity for ITV to come up with a show and pinch all 3 guys.

I didn't want to see the show end this way.. this season was fantastic but it was well known before that Clarkson was getting fed up the BBC. All 3 of their contracts were up at the same time..

I know I'm going against the grain here, but good riddance.
I hate Top Gear. Actually, I don't mind the show, but I can't stand to watch it because of what a monumental ******* Clarkson is. His co-hosts aren't much better, they're just weenie little foils for Clarkson to reflect his assholeness off of.
I know they did funny stuff, but I found the show way too staged, and the whole thing came across to me as a vehicle for Clarkson to project his diseased personality at a large audience, with his co-hosts hanging on like high school losers who have found a friend who is cooler than them.
Just look at the archetypes- the short dweeby nerd guy, the not-too-bright blue-collar guy, and the tall, loudmouthed, sarcastic/irreverent jerk who acts as the annointed leader of the little band of boys. Maybe you guys enjoyed high school more than I did, but I don't want to go back there.

Well said......watched it once--simply not into it.

It was also pretty clear that they were running out of ideas the last few seasons. It was just not as interesting a show as it used to be, but that may be because better shows have arrived since (e.g., Jay Leno's Garage).

I love the show, but if Clarkson was being that much of an ******* to a subordinate, he damn well should be fired, or at the very least reprimanded, made to make amends and offer a public apology. Nobody should get away with that and just carry on as usual.

If Networks fired actors/anchors for being dicks to underlings, there would not be much to watch. Some our most loved Canadian personalities are complete ******** off camera. I know first hand.
But that is just the way creative types behave (or are allowed to behave). But taking it to far by punching someone or being continually abusive is not cool. And I agree it should be dealt with.
Some personalities are just better at keeping their behaviour out of the media and off camera, Clarkson is not one of those people.
On a side note there seems to be several conflicting reports on the fait of the show. I imagine we will see a press release from the BBC in the next few days.

It was his show, his creation and turned it into the number 1 car show in the world and the most profitable for the BBC.
I'd be surprised if anyone in a similar positon would'nt have turned into a total diva.
Just look at Hollywood.
Mind you, he is of the old guard, before the politically correct and I never took his comments to heart.
He told it like it was/is. Kinda like Simon Cowell telling contestants that their singing sucks.
I for one will miss that part of it.
If a car sucks, is cheaply made etc, say so. Forget the "oh they should have another look at it" stuff.

Best show to watch isn't even a show....anything done by Chris Harris on Cars. Superb.
And I'm surprised no one has mentioned Fifth Gear. Tiff Needle, Jason Plato and Vicki Butler-Henderson are the real deal too...not as fabricated as Top Gear. And at least all 3 are racers...

I can't believe the carnage they caused to well, everything! Cars, buildings, people, the environment... it just seemed so wasteful and over the top. Clarkson was a first class jerk, but when they did actually test cars... the Ferrari's, Lambo's, Porsche's... it was good to watch.

+1 what Donster said.
The production of this show was always top notch and I will miss that, but the hosts; not so much. More interesting and engaging content on the internet killed TopGear over the last 5 years, not Clarkson's off camera antics.
Some car shows I enjoy watching online: Any Chris Harris reviews, Petrolicious, /Drive (BEFORE paid content ~ not sure if still available), Fifth Gear, Road Kill, Mighty Car Mods, The Smoking Tire (Matt Farrah), and Shmee150's channel.
Any others I should be watching?
