Bye bye TOP GEAR!
Damn. I was actually touring downtown London today with my family. Had I have know I would have gotten over to BBC.
I can't see how it would be that simple to get permission to drive a tank in London. That stunt almost makes me wonder if the BBC wasn't behind this in the first place.

It's demilitarized and in UK you can own and drive a tank on the public roads not everyone can own one there is some rules but I don't exactly know the rules, clean criminal record and something else. I don't believe that was the BBC because that Stig looks like a Chinese knock off and it says on the side Tanks-a-lot.co.uk.
I guess the tank shouldn't be a surprise. There are lots of kit-cars on the road here that clearly wouldn't be legal in Canada. And yes the Stig costume looks pretty lousy. I wonder who initiated this stunt.
best car ENTERTAINMENT on tv.
Has anyone seen the episode with the 1984 red toyota truck- they couldn't kill it. they had the truck strapped to a pier in england. the straps broke and the truck was under salt water for over 5 hours. in 1/2 hour a local mechanic with a screwdriver and adjustable wrench and wd40 got it going. unbelieveable. the whole engine was full of sand.
has anyone seen the episode where they buy 3 BEATER vehicles on-line for approximateyl $500 each and drive around south american from the west coast to the east coast via the amazon. truly unbelieveable. these guys are amazing mechanics- it is a must watch. they were able to troubleshoot and keep the cars going at minimal cost. super entertaining.
another one is where they drive thru IRAQ. amazing shots of the people and landscape in a war zone. everyone told them(including the british embassy) not to drive in this area- they did it anyways. the locals were so happy to be filmed with these guys. it was inspiring.
What kind of people come up with this stuff? they do.

Looks to be official. Clarkson has been fired.
Now we'll have to see what Hammond and May do.

The guy is an a s s h o l e, and this type of abusive behavior from these egomaniacs shouldn't be tolerated for a second.
I say, put Clarkson, Gomeshi, Cosby, and Big Ears Teddy in a closed room for an hour and see who comes out on top.
I find Top Gear boring, btw. I would much rather watch a Chris Harris review, or even a Japanese car show. Top Gear is a big waste of time.

LOL... I don't think the comparison between Clarkson and Gomeshi is ridiculous at all
Both were top stars of a super popular show, funded by the national, publically funded, broadcasting group.
Both (allegedly) assaulted co-workers on the job.
Both were fired by their employers for their abusive behavior.
Both, apparently, have huge egos, and believed they were untouchable.
Both immediately had a huge portion of the public support them after they released a public statement.
Of course, Gomeshi's crimes are on a totally different level. But you can't say it is ridiculous to make comparisons. There is more than enough in common with the two cases to note the similarities.

Assholish behavior makes for good TV entertainment and it's why the show works.
Whether you personally like the show cannot negate the fact that it was one of the most widely viewed TV shows up till Clarkson's demise, so it's clear that many other people like watching it.

I can't argue with you there. But, you dont have to be an ******* to be entertaining. I would rather have someone respectful like Chris Harris on the show. But obviously there is a reason why the show was hugely popular with Clarkson.
Just like Two and a Half men. I'm sure the same people who love Clarkson are big fans of that show too, when Sir Charles was on board.
Actually, Charlie was funny, when he wasnt looking so gaunt. The parties have taken their toll.

Clarkson punched a dude out. Although it's politically wrong, to me it falls in the category of a bar fight. I would loved to see a video of what exactly happened. The Q dude drugged and raped women.
