Hello!
02 C4S owner here....Ottawa resident
I've been having issues with my car lately....bad ones. The symptoms point to scored cylinders (lhs tailpipe sooty, ~5l of oil in 1000km of driving, and a pronounced tick coming from bank 2. Tick is getting worse and now sounds like a Subaru 2.5 na with piston slap.
Over the course of this winter, I will be pulling the engine and tearing her apart to confirm all of this. The cases will get sent to LNE for some nickies & pistons.
I am looking for local Porsche experts that can tackle the reassembly of this engine. I may attempt this on my own but wanted to ask here. I've spoken to Chris kerby and while he did say he could rebuild them, I got the feeling he wasn't found of rebuilding as he suggested a rebuilt motor from vertex (or vortex?) Auto. Once I googled that company for reviews, I was a lot more comfortable to do my own rebuild with Nickie's. They didn't have Great reviews. While I know the internet is full of negative reviews, I can't chance it when they are asking $11 000 + core for an engine. I'd rather put that 11k into a LNE rebuild.
The 1st thing I would do is get the head checked out. Maybe a small polish job and check clearances are within OEM spec and fix whatever needs to be fixed. I have a smoke on start up issues which I think is cause by something faulty in the head.
Who would you guys trust with this kind of work around here?

I would give Chris Tapp a call over at The Eurodyne Group aka Tapp Auto. He is located on Cleopatra off of Merivale Rd. He knows his Porsche's very well and may be able to help.

Sucks to hear.
They're not in Ottawa, but Auto Benny NDG (514-489-8245) in Montreal is a Flat-6 certified installer for the IMS solution re. LN Engineering. I have zero knowledge of them personally.
Good luck.
