Stranded!
I agree, adding 200 hp to a car built to handle it with a much lower possibility of total failure is "fixing" it :-)
I'm not a Porsche defender, I'm saying they build performance cars and they break down. Sometimes their over engineering mentality is bad (944) sometimes it is good (higher end models are more reliable than other brands like Ferrari). If you know what you're getting in to then there's no reason to be furious. I'd be furious if it was a Honda though and they gyped me on the warranty.
That being said, you're right that if you don't neglect them then they will generally run well for a very long time. Longer than almost any other car.
I think anything mechanical is prone to failure time to time. And if you are going to be "furious " anytime one breaks down, I would think most car companies would want you in someone else's car as your outlook is unreasonable.
Mark Motors called late yesterday with news that the car is fixed. It was a failed coil pack on cylinder 5. And it was covered under the CPO warranty.
So far I think that Porsche has handled the breakdown as well as could be expected. They got a flatbed there quickly and towed the car for free. Mark Motors looked after the repair more quickly than I had anticipated. And Porsche has promised to cover my hotel, meals and rental costs.
I haven't seen the car yet, but if this finishes as well as it has gone so far, I'll be happy.
I'll update again as I close out the roadside assistance claim. I have 1 mo to do so.
