Drive Clean Test - Failed

Yes the entire program needs to be scrapped but I think you are missing my point. With the OBD2 eTest all you need is a cheap scanner ($100) and you'll kmow if it will pass or not. The tailpipe test didn't have a cheap scanner for the owner to buy and it was a crapshoot going in.
however ... here is why the new system is a problem ..
My Audi passes with flying colours ... not even 10% the maximum .. which is the INTENT of the testing, get the poluters off the road ..
The rear O2 sensor goes bad . the function of the rear o2 sensor is to check if the cat is working .. so the cat isnt bad so the emmisions are excellent .. but the device whoes job it is to check the CAt goes bad .. creates a code . cant pass . $425 dollars installed by the dealer .. even though the actual emmisions on the car are very good..
I would bet you see far more sensors go bad than cats for example , which means consumers are spending a lot of money on cars that arent poluting. The sniff test is the last best test to see if you are poluting. Anything else is just a money maker for the repair shops.

cat bypass pass a drive clean test?
I'm looking at a car primarily for track use. A pain to swap the cat in and out to pass the test. Is there anyone with experience passing the driveclean with a 964 without a cat converter? As I said, the car doesn't do a lot of miles.

A well running 928 will pass without the cats so maybe a 964 would too. Only one way to find out. Take it in and have it tested before you buy it. Only cost $35.

Reviving this thread to ask you guys a quick question. Where do you recommend going in the GTA to get a Drive Clean test done? I'm looking for a shop that knows P-cars, and will be careful enough not to remove the front bumper lip for me.
North is preferred (Richmond Hill/Newmarket), but no problem traveling for the right place.

Yeah, I was wondering how the hell they could wipe out a splitter by bending down under dash to plug into the OB2 but I've seen some funny stuff go on in garages so there is always the odd 'Kramer' type here and there I guess.

I gladly would have, but I'm downtown and was in a rush to wrap this up this morning. I've got a temp sticker on the car and it expires on the 28th.
Well, turns out the car came back not ready anyway. It's got a new DME and might need some more time to learn. No codes of any kind, just not ready on Catalyst, Evap System and Secondary Air.
This may have to wait until the new year at this point. If so, you'll be seeing me!
