Well one thing for sure. Nick seems like a really nice guy with a lot of patience. Bad things happen to good people. I hope his issue is resolved but I bet his next car won't be a Porsche. A lot of eyes are on this thread.

Why hasn't Porsche suggested this? Because I assume that's not the problem.
A back up camera (other than power & ground) would connect via a module like Nav-TV.
A radar detector permanently wired, again would be power & ground. It's not integrated to car systems.

None of this has anything to do with a chaffed smoking wire harness in the doors.
There's no need to access the doors for the install of either of these products.
Nor does it have anything to do with a whistling leaking window which is probably where the water is from.
yeah he did say the windows go down on their own ... and it is raining .. not a rel stretchis it ..
Like WC I have been an electronics troubleshooter my whole life . This to me seems like a pretty simple route cause identification issue .. especilaly if he can get it to do it when it hits a bump. I can also tell you that quite a few issues are caused by techs trying to resolve the route cause , they disconnect and move things , which now it turn add to the issues if he takes short cuts.

I think they need more competant troubleshooters. Car techs now arent trained for this .. They are trained to read the code and change the part they are told too. Troubleshooting is a lost art, they should have farmed this out immediately to a good autoelectronics shop. It would be fixed by now.

Now there's an idea
Me and the Iceman can do a video of a complete tear down of a 991!
Your garage or mine?

Its spreading like wildfire on the internet already...I've seen two Facebook posts sharing the link as well.

We study the value of these customer service/marketing incidents in our MBA program and whether Porsche knows it or not (or gives $0.02), its costing them money already.

Yea you gotta feel for Nick. Personally I can't see the car leaving the factory like that. If the dealer botched the install of his toyz with their employees or sent the car out to an indi or had them come to the dealership to do the install their still liable.........

We can only speculate, but some have already boarded the life boats........

I thought I read in his 991 forum post that the dealer installed the aftermarket parts...

I believe you are correct but I think there have been issues with his dealer. Others commented in a negative way about his dealer so who knows.

If nothing else, Porsche should have buried this problem months ago. No corporation needs a video like that going viral. Over 30,000 consumers have clicked on that video (not counting his other videos.) Really bad corporate decision no matter how ya slice it.

Do you really think the same company that ignored all the internet posts over blown motors / IMS issues over M96's as well as a successful class action lawsuit - worries about one guy and his 991? When 500+ units look like they could catch fire they'll perhaps get back to you...

Don't get me wrong - I hope he's successful and in this day and age of viral posting on social networks - he may be successful - but this company hasn't changed that much in the few years since ****** boy left the firm.
