Because Porsche will not offer extended warranties on cars that are older than 6 years (from in service date).

This was the information given to me from the sales rep at Porsche of London. Aftermarket warranties yes...

Defo, the wheels are wrong on this car and if it's not an S, I'd give it a miss. if I were you I'd look for a 997S, and compare the driving experience to the Cayman, which is very much improved over the earlier cars.
Down side with the Cayman is the depreciation, which a 2009 997 will already have suffered the majority of its depreciation over it's first 3 years.
Price wise, it seems to be in line with similar cars in the UK, doesn't help you much I know as cars in the states tend to be cheaper than in the UK, but I have no idea about Canada.

just got back from Porsche of London, car seems to be in good overall shape with no major flaws, PCCB's look happy. Wheels are correct, as ordered. Was ordered by someone who wanted to do track work, thus 18" wheels for tire selection, PCCB's for added braking; odd option selections but served its purpose. Note: from my very quick look, it doesn't look like a track car, a driver but not a track-rat. A few crappy pics...
Cheers,

I was told even if you get a CPO car, you can renew the CPO again within 60 days from expiration. Is that right?

Thanks 993GT. I think I'll pass given the comments and the fact that I want an excellent condition car.

Nope. When I was attempting to negotiate I was flat out told that Porsche will not extend any Porsche warranty after 6 years. They could sell me an aftermarket warranty but that was the only choice.

If you don't believe me call them and give it a go!

As taken from the www.porsche.ca website:

Standard new warranty = 4 years or 80,000km (whichever comes first).

Pre-owned warranty = A total of 6 years or 160 000 kms whichever comes first (from first delivered to customer or registered as a demo).

Not doubting what they told you, but there is a 2007 GT3 at Pfaff that has CPO warranty. That car has to be over 6 years old.

I bought a 2006 last year (February) which was CPO. A call to Porsche Canada confirmed the warranty. If the car is still under the original factory warranty (4/80), CPO extends it to 6/160. Even if a car that has been off warranty for awhile can be certified CPO and it gets a fresh 2 year warranty, to a maximum of 160k km on the clock.

edit: A quick check of porsche.ca shows a couple of '06 and a number of '07s which are CPO. The car in question is being advertised as CPO.

Happy to help/'Rennfax'
I am up at Porsche of London a fair bit, so if anyone needs a Rennfax on a car they're interested in, don't hesitate to ask.
Cheers,
Rob

Yes...correct but you guys are missing the point or perhaps I wasn't clear.

This 09 is in its 6th year of CPO (must have been extended past the 4 year/80k factory warranty already)....Porsche will not allow you to extend via any Porsche warranty past this current 6th year. Its either 6 years total under Porsche warranty or 160,000kms - whichever comes first.

This is what their sales guy told me and what it appears to say on the Porsche.ca website. Hence why you see this 09 and other cars with the warranty but as its 2014 and the 6th year it will run out end of this year.

I'd check on that 07 GT3....just to be sure!

Your right Cam. As an owner you cannot go past the 6 yrs of factory warranty ( 4+2)

But Porsche dealers can sell an out of warranty car ( when they flip it ) as long as it meets their fine recommendations with a two year warranty.
