Default American History Lessons - Part II

Remember this speech segment by Rob Ford during the council meeting just before they stripped him of most of his powers?

This, folks, reminds me of when ... Saddam (Hussein) attacked Kuwait. And President (George) Bush said, 'I warn you, I warn you, I warn you do not attack.' Well, folks. If you think American-style politics is nasty, you guys have just attacked Kuwait,
Not quite! Kuwait was a rather innocent neighbour of a tyrant-led Iraq. With the shoe on the other foot Ford is mixing up his analogy and I don't see much of a coalition coming to his aid. Ford's bravado and hubris, not as convincing when read word-for-word from a script, reminds me of Saddam's delusional promise to wage "The Mother of all Wars" before scrambling into a hole to hide. If only this could be over as quick!
